Anyone have tips or a yardage book?

I've got a company golf tournament next weekend and I was wondering if any of you have any tips (or even a yardage book??) to score well. I believe we are playing on the Red course but I could be wrong. Also if any of you have played there recently, how are the conditions? Is this a typical Arizona desert course? Never played before so I was looking to practice some shots that I may come across at the range this week. Thanks in advance!

Red course...not much to it...no need for any book really. what you see is what you get on that course.

Wigwam is not a desert course...it is an old resort course. Trees line the fairways.

As for the Red course at the Wigwam - a very traditional style course, all grass and tree-lined as mentioned (same with the other two courses at the resort). A fun course that won't beat you up too bad.

What to practice: tee shots, long, medium and short fairway shots, chip shots, bunker shots and putts. ha ha (sorry, could resist being a smarta$).


There is a score card online and you can always check it out on Google Earth (as I often do), just to get a basic idea of the course.

thanks for the info and welcome (tjy). I've actually been around for a while but most of the questions have been answered with the search function. The google earth is a pretty good idea, I'll have to check that out for the general layout.

Played Wigwam Red course last week and its in ok shape at best. Greens are spotty and slow but the course is so easy that you won't have any tricky shots unless of course you hit it in the tress. Fairways are huge and not much trouble close to the greens. Most bunkers are far away from the greens so if you're pulling right clubs you will have flat chips all day on missed greens.

 

I really like the course cause it always allows me to bomb driver off most of the holes and not have to worry about much. Easy scoring course and plenty of birdies are to be had if you are putting well. Now if you were playing the Gold course I'd say bring your A game as its one of the harder traditional tracks out here.

Yeah, from what I've read, I was hoping we would be using the Gold course but I guess we are playing the on Red. Lately, I've been pretty consistent with the putter but I'm not a fan of slow greens. For some reason I can grasp the speed better on a slicker surface. The main thing I've noticed is that many greens around here are rock solid and pretty tough to hold; sometimes even with wedges, even though I am more of a high-spin player. I'm guessing because it's so much dryer in AZ?
