Jim Furyk Custom Grind CG-15 Wedge Pics!!!

From the Tour Van...

Jim has had a history of tinkering with his grinds. Last year we saw him grinding a wedge on the Tour Van.

This year we saw a few Raw CG-15 wedges that were made from a master Jim did. Lots of offset and sole grind he likes. The Tour Reps say that is how he can get those flop shots so high and fast.

Funny so many people have a mis-conception of offset, yet more PGA pros are embracing them. I was that the bridgestone this past weekend and a few pros had clubs with more offset than you would think.

Didn't the Eye2 "L" wedge have similar offset?
See Hunter Mahan's bag, he's still gaming a conforming version (which I think will be available to all of us mortals in November).
The fact that the Eye2 "L" wedge has survived so long as it has should tell us all something; that offset is not necessarily an enemy of "game".

I don't understand. There are countless guys on this site who proclaim that they physically can't hit clubs with offset because of some "psychological" thing or it's beneath their abilities. How can a man who once won the toughest golf tournament in the world possibly play a club with offset??

While it has more offset, the head itself looks a lot like one of the early Cleveland 485 lob wedges.

Certainly an interesting wedge. A notably high 'muscle' and quite a 'fat' look to the club, all before you get to that offset. Crikey.  

I played a beryllium Eye 2 L wedge for a decade or so until the thing wore flat and I bagged an Eye 2 sand wedge for a number of years, so I'm not allergic to offset in wedges, but that one of Furyk's doesn't suit my eye I'm afraid. Like it or not, it's an intriguing design.

totally agree ... looks like the 485 club head. Short & compact. Would love to see Cleveland bring back the 485 and 691 head shapes. Low(er) bounce but wider soles.

 It  does indeed look a bit 485-esque, a wedge Furyk's played in the past, and it also looks very similar to a Srixon wedge I remember seeing in his bag too. Furyk's seemingly a man who likes to stick with what's familar. 

The 'muscle's' not quite the same as the 485; it's deeper. But the look at address is similarly compact and the overall shape's in the same ballpark.

I think it is Srixon/Clvland tour strategy.
Their players should play/promote srixon balls and cleveland hardware..
Take a look at Srixons hardware lineup:

From what I've been told and understand in actually holding one of Furyk's wedges (not this one but one similar) is that offset such as this allows for the club to be opened way up and still be squared up at impact. Players who prefer this usually play most if not all of their wedges with an open face. Squared up it's just fugly, but when it's open, the offset allows the face to be wide open without shots falling dead right. Not my cup of tea in anything but a 60*, but hell the regular CG15's have a ton of offset, Furyk's just baffle me. Another perk of being a world class player, have a wedge completely Prototyped to your spec. I mean think about it, these guys play the best conditioned courses with gallery's and grandstands with free drops to stop wild shot, the best equipment POSSIBLE and then they have the talent. No wonder they make millions, they have everything working for them. Getting there is the hardest part, or was it waiting it the hardest part...no that's Tom Petty!

Ditto on the shape of the 485 and I used to really like the 691 model. Great 58* loft with a somewhat wide sole and nearly no bounce.

I don't know why people dont like offset, I have a little bit in my 32's and it is awesome. it just gives a look of confidence i just dont like all these game improvements with huge toplines but the offset is very comforting to look at in my perspective

I remember Paul Azinger in his prime years (late 80's early 90's) used to carry the 485 lob wedge also. He was a magician with it.
