TP Mills
I've had some putting problems lately (never really been a good putter, and probably never will be :bad: ), and wanted to try something else than my Scotty Cameron Newport Beach. I really like the Newport and the way it looks, I have just lost all confidence in it. So after looking around for a bit, I decided my new putter was going to be a TP Mills and that I wanted to try something a little different than what I'm used to...I went with a TP Mills SoftTail in carbon steel. Jay/Glenwayputters was very helpful and extremely quick in shipping the putter to me (thanks once again Jay! :yahoo: ). The putter arrived yesterday and looked better than I could have ever dreamed of...it's a BEAUTY! :yahoo:

I know, I know...I went a little overboard with the pics :bad: I just wanted to really show the beautiful lines on this putter.

I tried it for the first time today on the puttinggreen. I had rolled a few balls with it at home on the carpet, and didn't really notice any major differences compared to my Newport. I was a little surprised since I had expected the feel would be different (softer), but that wasn't really the case...on the carpet. On the puttinggreen there was a HUGE difference however. The feel is REALLY good and makes the Newport Beach feel hollow and "pingy". The TP Mills is super solid and has a very smooth yet solid feel to it, very hard to explain. The balance of the putter also feels a lot better, the Newport has been altered a bit though, so that isn't really as surprising (it has been cut down and tipweighted to get the weight back up).

Although I don't want to admit it, I'm a HUGE Scotty Cameron fan and love looking at his putters. But the TP Mills putter really blew the Newport Beach out of the water today. My distance control was a lot better with the TP Mills and the feel is just amazing...the TP Mills is definitely in the bag for my round tomorrow!

I think there's at least one more TP Mills putter in my future :bad: Thanks once again for your help Jay!

Uzzi...love the pics. No problem with all the angles. I think more guys should do that. I know I never tire from looking at pictures or a truly fantastic looking putter. It's good to hear you're loving it. I still remember that night in chat you were debating to get it. Now it seems you and Beruo are only telling me what I'm missing and to get a Mills too. :yahoo:

Great looking putter, Michael - but don't like the sight dot, though :yahoo:

My major concern with black finish carbon steel putters is GLARE - does this putter have this problem ?

I like your photos - all of them. When the photos are sharp and taken from different angles, I really enjoy to look at all them :yahoo:

You really sense how the putter looks, when you have a chance to view several pictures taken from different angles. How about the grip - is it OK, or did you install a new grip on it immediately ?

the black oxide finish on these putters does not have anymore of a glare problem than any other black oxide putters.

Thanks for all of the compliments guys!

Good for you, great photo's love all the angles. do you notice the curved top line when at address or does this just blend in? again good for you, I think I would like one in a satin finish ss-34 1/4" 350grm head

You don't notice the curved topline at all, blends in completely.

I also wanted to get a sight line on it, since I'm so used to that from my previous putters, but the sight line is custom order only. I definitely think I can get used to just using a sight dot though!

Great putter Riuzzi. I think the black frames the ball well enough that you'll be able to get away without having the line on the flange, just a hunch :smilie_cally: . It is amazing the way that TP Mills putters blend soft and solid so well into such a well-peforming putter (the 304 stainless is very surprisingly soft feeling as well). I'm sure you'll be happy . . . for a while at least, then you'll feel the draw to get David to make you a custom putter, just a hunch. :cheesy:

I do have to echo six's sentiments though--GET THAT PUTTER OFF THE CEMENT!!! Good night man! I can appreciate that clubs are meant to be played, but putters don't get too much play outside the most manicured part of the course for good reason. But good pics man. I am certainly happy to see high quality pictures and my favorite part of all . . . no toes. Man I hate toes. :)

Don't worry guys, it never touched the ground :)

I've played 27 holes with it so far...it's safely in the bag. The distance control is so good it's scary and the feel is awesome. The first putt with it out on the course was a 4-4.5 meter par putt...right in the cup. I went on to score 38 points, so I dropped my hcp by 0.4...I'm very happy with the putter :smilie_cally:

You're right George, the black finish frames the ball really well, and I'm doing just fine without a sight line...and you're right about the custom putter from David as well :cheesy:

Jay, if I may ask..is it possible to get a sight line on the flange rather than the dot, and also the price and availability..please pm me or e-mail if you can, thanks for your time

simon

I have that exact putter. I just received it from David. It is a custom softtail with a sight line rather than a sight dot. It also only has half a shaft offset. I will try to post a picture when I get a chance.
