The Callaway X460 Tour Driver w/ FUJI Tour Platform?

Hi WRXers. I have been playing the Adams 9032LS 9.5* with a Prolaunch Blue S65 driver for the entire season with nice results. Solid, great sounding, and long when hit properly. With that said, a few years back I loved the Callaway X460 Tour model (9.5*) with the Fuji Tour Platform 26.3 S flex shaft and for some reason never pulled the trigger. Fast foward to yesterday, and I ordered this club from Callaway Preowned and was wondering if you guys who either liked or disliked this setup, can post your opinions/recolections here? Info is the point here on what to expect...or not expect etc...Thank you.

I played the x460 Tour for almost 3 years.Really long and low spin and one of the most neutral drivers out there. One of the few drivers I've tried that has no draw bias. I retired the X460 when I upgraded to the HyperX Tour.

Not really that much difference between those two heads other than the HyperX is slightly more stable at impact and quieter. Biggest gripe about the X460 is the bore-thru construction which make reshafting a nighmare.

One really noticable thing about the X460 was how loud it was. An earsplitting high pitched ringing sound. Sounded good , but just way too loud.

Mine had a Prolaunch Blue in it , but I think the head would work fine with the tour Platform shaft.

I played that driver with the tour platform and later with an NV 65. Good head. I like a driver shaft that has a little bit stiffer tip and the TP didn't feel quite stiff enough. That is a really smooth shaft though. There have been a lot of "refurbished" 460 tour drivers on ebay lately. The prices seemed pretty low so I'm not sure what the quality would be but that was a great driver. My only complaint was the the paint on the top peeled on my driver.

Thanks guys, I am looking forward to this bad boy and how neutral it is due to my draw tendencies. I also like what I have read about the smoothness of this shaft. I have heard that this is a loud head and I hope it atleast is the right pitch...not that clunk that my Cleveland Monster XLS made...that thing sounds like I was hitting the ball with a soda can.

Awesome and totally underrated driver. I know all of Cally's comp drivers get all the attention and tour play, but I have always been partial to their all-Ti offerings. This driver was great, Hyper X was awesome, and now DET blows them all away IMO. I can still hit my Hyper X VS Proto combo farther than anything made today, I just hit my DET straighter. Good pick up.

Everyone on these golf forums seem to have a fetish for the comp drivers and the newest and greatest. The all titanium models compare very favorably to Fusion models.

I've owned an FT3 and an X460 and far preferred the X460. Also owned an FT 5 and a Hyper X, still prefer the HyperX slightly.

People are always bragging on this site about how they need an ultra low spin driver for their outrageous clubhead speeds. And of course only the new drivers will accomplish that. The all titanium heads are pretty much dismissed as yesterdays technology

I've tried almost every pre 2010 driver out there and you'd be hard pressed to find a lower spinng head than either the X460 or the HyperX. The HyperX is borderline too low spinning but really long . I'd love to try a Diablo Edge Tour once the prices come down.Soon as they're under $150 i'll probably buy one.

This is a 1 swing review with a V2 shaft in it and this thing peeked my intrest! I have an FT5 imx tour with the real Fubuki in it and I love it, but this thing shocked me. I piped my driver and swung this thing right after it and was neck and neck with it. The tour head is a great look at setup, very clean.

There you go a 1 swing review!

Ear plugs are ready for you guys...so are binoculars LOL. I guess in Lexington, I will have to break the law for a couple days...at least I have 3 lawyers with me, I like my chances.

Thanks for the post and feed back. Sounds like the DET is a straight flyer!

LOL, I agree with the setup! Soooo clean

Got it, use it, enjoy it. I've never tested it against anything else ever though. Only ever have fleeting thoughts about replacing it, the thing works too darn well. (and I'm cheap) Replaced my ERC Fusion.

Glad you like it and I think I am done for a while with this. I am going to focus on my swing and putting and call it even.

Got a minty one in my closet with the exact setup you described. Loved it when it came out. Was a great club for me at the time, but i have moved on to the i20, which is a better fit for me.

Good luck and I hope she treats you well!

i have a callaway x460 too.

i bought an aldila voodoo .350 , but it doesn't slide into the head.

headlooks like there's a ferrule in there about 1/4" into the head.

it seems to reduce the hole to a .335. i'm guessing. but the ferrule looks to be smooth to the bottom of the head out the bottom open side. perhaps it is no ab extra ferrule. i'd hate to drill it out and find it is not removable.

i love this club. any advice ? i do have a .335 also i can install

looks like a top "trim ferrule" is needed while others ive seen were cosmetic.
