Are there any differences?

Does anyone know what the differences are between the retail and tour versions of the CG1 Black Pearls?

retail have a pearlessence like finish that lasts a little longer than the matte black tour irons. The tour irons look like they have a black powder coating on them, kind of rougher finish. Some tour black cg1's don't have micro mill on them, but those were early models.

The regular tour ones or the ones that VJ plays are also a different color. If you ever have a chance to look at VJs and the others that are in the tour reps. bag you will see that VJs do not have CMM on the hosel. That is because they are made from 8620 carbon steel and gunmetaled which is a longer lasting coating than CMM with black pearl. I've got some muscle pictures of the retail, tour, and VJs CG1s. As soon as I can dig up those I will compare them. Some of the tour van guys have told me they are really just TA-1s with the CG1 stampings on them. They said the first tip off is to see where on the blade the CG1 is stamped--slightly different place than the tour and retail CG1s. By the way I have a set of the tour ones---I posted a picture and a review of those earlier (I also later ordered a 2 iron which was retail and there isn't much difference between the finishes--you would have to look long and hard to tell). The finish is pretty much gone on the sole and most of the faces after about of month of fairly hard usage. When my brother brings them back I will post a picture of the wear.
