That is a sick looking putter! Ive seen a few of yours and they are very very impressive. I was just wondering how you went about getting that Honey Dip finish on the weights? I would love to do that to an entire head I have so am curious on the process. Also, if you are going to add a new finish to the head of a Scotty, what do you need to do to prep the head....sand it???

I hope you're the one that did the custom work on this putter on the bay....otherwise someone is ripping your ideas off hard!!! All the way down to the name and everything. Same color scheme but the colors r reversed of deerslayers putter... Both awesome paint jobs.

I found the perfect pallet for some different paint fill and metal finishes. The Cameron Laguna. Great large dots to do some translucent fades along with some over-sized lettering that also makes fades turn out nicely. Here is what I did to this Laguna in creating my "Tequilla Sunrise Special"

 

DIY - Charcoal Mist Finish usning the Caswell 370 SS Blackener

DIY - Honey Dipt Finish on the weights using a Butane Torch :)

DIY - Tequila Sunrise fade paint fill using Tamiya translucent paints

 

The putter is darker in person than what you see in the direct sunlight. I did happen on an incredible accident that works absolutely unbelievably well in making the paintfill of the "cherry bombs" mirror smooth with no imperfections. Doing a fade right on the dots usually takes multiple times to get them perfect. Many times of doing them, letting them dry only to find one imperfection on one dot and having to redo it. This was the case the last fill when one dot had a small bubble or imperfection on one tiny spot. I touched it with my finger and put a fingerprint on the dot knowing I was going to remove it. I then poured clean acetone over all three dots. It spilled off within a second because I almost dropped the putter. I looked down and unbelievably, all three dots were mirror smooth and PERFECT! The flood of acetone for a second or two and pouring it off, evens them out perfect and leaves a perfect mirror finish on the dot. Only cleanup around the dot is needed where the acetone/paint mixture runs off. Learned a new trick
