s82 & s83...anyone own one?

The days of walking with my bag are over. I've decided that years trade work and caddying have deemed my back unusable. Plus I'm just sick of my clubs getting stuck all the time! Now in my 30's I'm going to break the piggy bank and purchase my 1st staff bag. I'm not a pro, but I believe I have the game to back it. I'm a big Titleist fan and will be deciding between the s82 & s83. I'd like to hear some pros and cons of the two, if anyone is game to share. Thanks in advance.

I tried one of their black OTS bags (I think the S83) a year or so ago and the cart just tore it up, so I went to a Japanese version in patent leather. You'd think this would be worse, but it's actually much more durable. Not sure where you would find one, but if you can get one, they are terrific. I bought one from a guy off this site and picked it up locally in SoCal about a year ago. Still looks brand new!

I own two of the S82's and at one time owned a S83. I gave it to one of my son's not to long ago. I have played with one of them for 5 years. It says Titleist Titanium on it. So it is a 2005 model I think. The only thing that has happen to it, is the cloth around the zippers on the pockets has faded. It is not that black black color it once was. It could be the bathroom cleaner I spray all over it to clean it, every couple of weeks that has done it. Scrub and Bubbles does wonder. No scratch's, scrapes, zipper failures or anything. I play roughly 200 times a year. I am retired. A very good bag for the money. The other S82 holds a set of clubs and a few extras at my house. Somehow, I feel I play better with the original one I bought.

I don't have those models but I have 2 bags that are similar in size.

I have a Titleist 9" Staff Cart bag from 10 years ago that I have been using and I have had no issues. I just retired it and while I am waiting for a new stand bag (Titleist), I pulled out the 10.5 Tour bag from the 90s. This thing is big. I played with it yesterday and could barely get it strapped to the cart. I played with my buddy and 2 strangers and one of them made a comment like the last time he saw a bag that big was on Caddyshack. Well after playing from the tips and finishing the front bogey-bogey for 38, there were no more comments (scraped it on the back for a 78). But to be fair, it is one big a** bag from the old Tommy Armour Tour (same bag that Freddie and Davis used) that can hold the kitchen sink. My friend that played the tour had it embroidered for me back in 1992 and the thing still looks new and all the leather has held up really well. But again, it is one big a** bag. If I am riding, I like a big bag, after all I am not carrying it. But if you don't have any game or have thin skin then go with the smaller less obnoxious size.

Personally, I like the two bags that you are choosing from and would probably go with the 9.5 just because the 10.5 is a little overkill. When I was in the store the other day I was thinking about it hard, but ended up ordering a bag online because my walker is just beat.

I've got one. A 10 1/2" one. It's an excellent bag. If I'm honest, I generally use the preceding model when I break out a staff bag simply because I prefer the older design, but all the big Titleist bags are tip top designs. Plenty of pockets and room  for everything. 

The only real gripe with the current model is the fading grab handle on the back of it. Admittedly, mine had already seen a year or more's daily service in the hands of its former owner by the time it was given to me, but the formerly red handle is a sort of pinky/violet colour now. Fadetastic. 

 Handles aside, the rest of the red-coloured sections on the bags are all unaffected by any fading dramas.

I have an S83 which I use twice a week on either a push cart or (usually) a riding cart. Got it 3 years ago when they came out with the current style. Very happy with it.
