Added the R-11 TP, Aldila RIP shaft to my bag 4 months ago. Got my club fitted with a launch monitor for the correct settings on the club for optimal ball flight and spin. I couldn't be happier. Best driver I've ever played. Had a taylormade R-7, Cobra, Nike Machspeed. I've picked up at least 15 yards with my drives and I swing with confidence. The ball jumps off the face and just goes and goes. I've also been able to work the ball with confidence as well. Nothing short of outstanding. Get one, you won't be sorry. Make sure you get it fitted though.

Update 2/23/11:
- Using X Flex Blueboard with 9* TP head (2gm/1grm) better but still not comfortable with heavier head
- Tried X Flex Blueboard with 10.5* Std head (10gm/1gm). Head feels significantly lighter (D2 SW).
- Std head is so much easier to hit with consistency.
- X Flex shafts definately works better with the Std head.
- TP head is better for slower swingers or stronger swingers with strong X Flex shaft.

The heads on both are literally identical...

Strange because I purchased another TP 10.5 and all three of my heads weigh different (4gms from heaviest to lightest).
I guess I'm used to previous generation of lighter heads.

I have adjusted to the heavier weight now that I have used them for several months.
Earlier, I was getting good distance and control with an OEM Matrix Ozik HD6 XS on the TP 10.5 but I was swinging hard.
I slowed down my swing and I'm now getting great distance with an OEM Matrix Radix HD6 S on the TP 9.
The Radix is almost effortless to hit for distance and control for me compared to the other stiffer shafts that I own.

This is my favorite driver of all Ive ever owned. What a difference it makes to find the right shaft to match your swing. I went thru 2 other shafts both had the TM logo graphics so I'm not sure if that made a difference but when I put the Bassara Hawk stiff shaft what a beast this became. I think only the Ping I15 & the 9064 are longer but not with the accuracy I'm getting with the R11. I'm driving the ball better now than I have all summer long. I finally gave in to the adjust-ability in driver as I did own a 910 with Oban Devotion which wasn't bad but the R11 gives me more options with getting that desired ball flight. R11 is the clear winner for driver of the year for 2011.

I couldn't agree more with the benefits of adjustability. I love that I can set the club a bit more upright and slightly closed yet still have the face sit open on the ground to encourage more of an inside-to-out path and faster face closure to encourage a nice draw. Brilliant! Thank you Taylormade! Also, the stock shaft(Fuji Blur) feels very solid. I'd say it's comparable to more expensive aftermarket shafts that I've used in previous drivers.

I'm not a big fan of the feel of this clubface. If you stray from the dark path, take the Superfast 2.0 TP over this club. Friends say the r7 Superquad TP and r9 Supertri have better feel and comparable distance. I've also hit the Titleist 910 D2 on the course and squeezed at least 10 more yards out of it. Take it or leave it!

Besides the shaft options, what is the difference between the regular version and TP version heads on the R11?

Nothing. The heads as posted earlier are the same. The extra cost is for the shaft, and the TP sleeve inner dia. is .335 vs. .350.

Set my 9* R11 up with an R9 TP Fujikura Motore F1 65 shaft last summer. Love this combo! No need to buy a new driver this year!

Just got back from the range.
Distance with the R11 is a little further than the r7. Most drives around 5 - 10 yards further. I did hit some big bombs that flew around 15 yards further and sounded great off the face.
The big difference that I saw was in the set up & bad shots. They held the line better than the old r7. When you set up your stance to hit, the club just felt better in the hands and at address gave me confidence to go after each shot. I will go to the range later in the week to hit some more balls & play around with shafts.
Still playing with the adjustment to work out what will suit me best.

i thought i had found my holy grail, until i hit the r11s, its now in the bag, but only due to me getting it for free since a weight broke off in my r11 and Taylormade sent me the R11s to replace it.

my r11 had a fuji motore f1 70x. 14g in heel, 1 gram in toe and i killed this thing. i set loft at 10 degree and used the open setting on sole plate.
being able to treak the club to what i wanted translated into supreme confidence off the tee, my misses became much more playable and my good ones became great ones. i picked up probably 10-15 yards off tee but i think sole reason is i found the sweet spot so much more consistently by being able to adjust the settings,

the white crown looks so nice and the black face contrast is great too. these are great drivers and maybe a better suited for better players due to having the 440cc head and not the 460 on r11s.

shaft is the all improtant thing of course, but having the ability to change out shafts easily on these makes that less of a problem.
