905T vs 905R What are the differences

Not even a robot can hit the sweet spot, because the sweet spot is dimensionless!

Try balancing a ruler on a pivot, if it balances, try a pivot which has a smaller contact area to the ruler. Now it gets harder to balance the ruler. Continuing this trend you can see that the sweet spot is dimensionless. (the point of contact between ruler and pivot when the ruler balances is the sweet spot or Centre of Gravity.)

But, yes, commonly people understand by the term sweet spot as the area at which the ball is hit and gives decent results. And this area can be increased by perimeter weighting (through increase of moment of inertia MOI).

Best wishes!

JESUS!! I feel like I just went back to physics class!

I currently have 3 drivers in the roatation and the 905T w/ Graphite Design YS-6+ Stiff is winning the battle so far. I have no trouble with accuracy or distance with this club and it feels and sounds awesome. I don't think you'll notice that much of a difference betwee the two unless you're a Tour Pro. I think the 905T is a better buy at the price they are selling them for now.

I think that the average "low handicap" player will be able to tell the most difference between the T and R because they don't hit the center of the face as often as a pro would.

The biggest difference I have seen with the R (now that I got my 9.5º/V2 combo and have had a chance to hit it) is that it likes a lower tee height, much like the other "large sole" drivers like the Hi-Bore and SQ. The face height is quite shallow, and even in 9.5º, it's easy to launch. I had the 10.5º in the 905T and it did not launch as high as the 9.5º 905R. I set the R next to my J33 460 and it absolutely dwarfs the J33 460 in appearance and "footprint." The stability on off-center hits makes it a completely different club than the T. It also hits the ball MUCH straighter. The sound and feel are also much different than the 905T. Lighter, louder, "hotter" feel. The T was plenty long, but it never "felt" long. You had to wait to see the results. The face of the 905R just "feels" hotter.

I would also say the 905R is marginally longer than the 905T. The range I frequent, I was hitting midway up the fence at the back of the range with the T. The R is clearing it. Probably equates to about an extra 5-10 yards. "Mr. Bushnell" will have to verify once I hit the course with it. :man_in_love:

The sweet spot is the point where all forces equal out and there are none counteracting another, which translates (using your ruler example) into the point (just large enough to not pass through the ruler entirely) where the ruler is a perfect balance. This CAN be achieved in an environment with a consistent atmospheric pressure and no movement. I guarantee this, mostly because its common sense, and you can ask and physicist. When applied to a golf club, the spot for maximum energy transfer which can be achieved. When you say it is dimensionless you are not taking into consideration that there is an optimal spot for contact (or balancing the forces). Think of it in terms of magnets, put to positives or negatives together and they will push away. Now if you can find a spot where they will become in perfect balance (forget about them spinning or flipping to the opposite charge) you have your sweet spot. I have to admit, that spot will get increasingly small the closer you look, kind of like dividing a number in half repeatedly. Hmmm... I thought my brain left me in the summer, guess not lol. Class of 2008!

Anyways back on subject, go witht he 905R if you can. You will be very pleased.
