Recommend a 3W for me...

You're using a 14 deg head with a very stiff shaft - tipped heavily - no wonder you say you're having problems getting it up off the deck.

You can bend the Sonartec up to 2 degrees for loft and lie - I'd suggest a bending to 15-16 degrees and a shaft that is more low to mid kick and possibly at 42.5 inches instead of 43 - since you are a long hitter anyway - the shorter shaft should give you more consistency if your club guy can get the Swingweight up.

The SS-07, being shallow, should actually help with the ball getting up in the air. I owned an SS-07 and had a 652 Speeder in it - getting it off the deck wasn't a problem.

I think this is a great idea... Plus you can have the adjusted club back in your bag pretty quick. At least it's worth a try since it will cost less than $10.

I have a 13* 3 wood and a 17* 4 wood... The 4 wood is my go to club. I think if you can adjust your club to 16* AND maybe even have the face opened a bit, you might find that what you have is already pretty damn good. Just needs a little tweak...

Thanks for all the replies so far!

To clarify, the problem with the ss-07 were all the bananas. Originally I did have some problems trying to sweep it off of the deck, but now I can get it in the air fairly consistently, I just can't control it at all.

It just seems to be a bit more of a players club then I need, right now. That's my take at least.

So right now I am going to look at the Mizzy 001 and f50, T60, SQ, SHIII, V Steel, R7 st and ti. I'll probably pick up a few tonight and demo them, thanks for the input!

Avoid the Adams RPM LP Tour Proto then -

Look, no 3 wood is going to help the inherent problem with bananas - that's usually not a club issue - you've got a long shaft with a low lofted head - 15 degrees. All weaknesses with the swing show up in the 3 wood because it's off the deck. A draw biased head will help you square up the clubhead but it won't eliminate an OTT move and it won't help with loading up on the right side with back to the target, keeping your right shoulder back and swinging the arms more.

I suggest sticking with a 5 wood and taking more lessons - then getting a 3 wood. If the swing improves, it will improve your entire game and then you might be able to use that Sonartec.

At least, that's what I did - and it worked. But I prefer long term solutions having learned that new clubs just don't do the trick.

I don't disagree, I just thought that maybe the ss07 was much more of a players club then a 9.5 index needed. Decisions decisions!. thanks

I'm just slightly lower on the index scale, now if you were talking SS-03 or 3.5, I'd agree with you - those are player's clubs. But the 07 has a shallower face and is not bad heel to toe, so it should get off the ground well if the shaft is right.

Now if you just don't like the feel of the club and wan't something just slightly more forgiving, heck, I can see a new club.

But if you are shooting bananas, you might try more loft to 16 and slightly closed or more upright to promote a draw - you can always adjust it later - then have a pro take a look - believe me, I have the same thing going with the longest clubs - and it's usually a matter of OTT - not holding the shoulders back and not swinging the arms enough. Have someone take a look. For me, it's been a matter of relaxing at the top more and waiting for the clubhead to make it's move - allowing the shoulders to follow the clubhead instead of the other way around.
