Sun Mountain vs Titleist

I just cannot decide

I can't decide between the the sun mountain four 5 bag and the titleist 14 way bag. Both look great and the only real difference between the two I can see is the SM has a 10 1/2 inch opening and the titleist is a tad smaller.
Please cast a vote for which bag and place your reasoning behind the choice here. Also if you have any comments good or bad about either.

Sun Mountain makes the Titleist bags.

They are basically the same bag, just depends on which one you like best.

Sun Mountain makes the Titleist bag. They are basically the same except for the strap system. I went with the Titleist because I liked the strap system better than the one on the Sun Mountain. Look over both strap systems and decide for yourself. That being said, I have been told that you can custom order either bag with either strap system.

Sun Mountain. They are great bags and last forever. If you change clubs they will fit the bag no matter what brand you go with.

I've had the Titleist for 1 year now and this is by far the best bag I ever had. It's reallt light and you can really put a lot of things in there. The 14 way is also really good at keeping the clubs from hitting each other and damaging shafts.

I recieved a four five for Christmas. Really nice bag if your carrying. The problem I had was the stand mechanism It is to big and the
bag does not fit properly on my clicgear cart and has to be turned sideways to sit in a golf cart.

The new model has been improved by all accounts and fits on a cart nicely.

Wow same bag just different straps. I like the idea of having a bag and it doesn't matter what brand of clubs you bang in there.

I love my 4.5. I actually wanted the Titleist one last year because I like the straps but when I tried to order it was on backorder. My other bag was broken so I went with the Sun Mountain for time's sake.

That said I'm one of those people that don't care if bag brand and club brand match, I just don't see how it matters.

My two favorite bags were Titleists and I didn't realize how much I liked them until I got a bag I couldn't stand (bad pocket design, off balance when carrying, awful straps, etc.). So when I startied looking for a replacement, I was happy to learn Sun Mountain made Titleist bags so I naturally gravitated to them. I know it's a weird reason, but I don't like the idea of using a Titleist bag without playing their clubs, since it's nothing but an advertisement. Would rather sport the actual manufacturer of the bag, so I'll be getting a Sun Mountain. If there was a big price difference, I'd go with the cheaper bag, but that's not the case, based on my homework.

Same bag, different logo. I personally like the "universal" SM logo. I just got my second 2011 SM 4.5. Great bag!

What do you guys not like about the SM X Strap system? I love it. I don't like the Titleist version as it tends to tangle up.

Nothing wrong with the SM straps justblike the Titleist better. The SM are a little narrow for my shoulders and a little more padded. I like the wider spread and thinner feel on the Titleist. Like I said I have the SM and love it so clearly it isn't that big a deal.

I have the new Titleist Premium and its a big step up from my last years Four5.



I recommend it.

I had a four 5 and after a month it was falling apart. It was also heavy if you carry, but I use a push cart...so no biggie. If you are after a carry, I would buy one of the new waterproof ones...since you never know. I have had several mizzy lite bags and love them the most. However, after several wet days in a six month period, the lite material is like paper when it rains. Just something to chew on....IMO.

jblefty.. as a fellow lefty consider the sun mountain 3.5 SL,,about the same size as the 4.5 AND it comes in a left handed model.. i'm finally replacing my 15 yr old IZZO left handed bag with one .. http://www.sunmountain.com/default.php?cPath=3805_3840_3745 ..list is $179.00 but w/o pushing one retailer over anohter check out some of the better known on line/retailers like those from Austin, Tx for deals .

I am going to get the 4.5, I like the idea of being able to put any club in the bag and it doesn't have to be the same as my iron brand etc. Now black or blue......

How does the 7way titleist compare?

I have purchased both Titleist and Sun Mountain Bags and I can honestly say that they are the exact same except Sun Mountains may be lighter and the strap system is a lot more comfortable then the regular Titleist stand bag straps.

Numerous ppl have stated this. That is the main reason fro my choice. The in laws jumped on a plane today for Vegas and a few other places. I tolf them do not return to oz unless you have my stand bag and new 3 wood!!!

My new premium arrived today. I like the 7 way much more than the 2010 14 way.

Interesting thread as I was trying to decide the exact same thing myself. I'm going to go look at the R11 all white bag before deciding but for now it is the Four Five.

More comfortable (straps) than the Titleist was the biggest reason.
