I'm with Sandy on this one. I had a set of MP33 irons I took apart and could not believe the lead plugs in the heads. That left me with a sour note towards Mizuno. I have not seen that in any other irons I have owned. Probably keeping me from buying anything Mizuno.

i'd be interested in seeing a photo of your disection

What companies have you seen that have consistent headweights without using lead plugs, etc?

I'm sure everyone takes photos of their reshafts--right or is going to immediately remove their heads to show you a picture. Out of 37 sets of Mizunos I've owned over the years only the sets from the early 1980s and a set of TN-87s and MAP-29s from the Australasian tour have not had lead plugs in them. Lead plugs are no different and usually can't be felt than other manufacturers means of getting correct head weights out of a wide range of accepted raw headweights. Plastic plugs, wooden dowels, lead powder, plastic dowels are all methods to correct headweights. Mizuno is the only company that I have found 6 and 8 gram lead plugs in their irons. If you get a set with 2 and 4 grams that is pretty standard and no one would be able to tell. When you get to 8 grams the iron definitely has a thin feeling to it---totally different from the rest of the set. Part of the reason they accept such a wide range of light heads is to cover many lengths of steel shafts. But a head with an 8 gram plug should have been tossed. I will be interested to see if the MAP-100s have any in them. I will publish those pictures if they do.

Also I now see one of the partial advantages to Miuzno putting the road runner on the sole. When you are looking for a set of irons theirs now sticks out instantly on horizontal shelves instead of just looking like everyone elses forged shiny chromed iron.

RARE that I know of in forged carbon steel! Unless they hand picked them one by one specifically.

Even that I still saw some missed 1/2 swing weight.

The way i see it, less 6-7 aren't bad at all and normal. Roughly, 10 gar lead weight in the tip of the shaft will move sweet spot 1/8"to the heel and slightly higher COG. How many of us can hit the sweet spot better than 8 out of 10? and how bad could it be missing 1/8"?...at the same time how consistent the way we grip it and can feel 1/2 point of swing weight?

Yes, I do built them as tight as possible to spec to reduce the mental side of the game on blaming the club. At least that is the one we can control when i built them.

i have been on more than a few club company's staff programs, and while the bulk of my time has been spent on the mizuno staff, going back to the Mp-9 days, they are as guilty of having the specs come out as screwed up as the next company. ironically, the only company in my experience to "nut" all of the specs was macgregor a few years ago. for the guy jumping on the mizuno employee...relax a litttle. but also for everyone in here, if you think the clubs you order are going to come out "nutted" on weights, lofts, lies...etc...it just doesnt happen. you SHOULD ALWAYS be sure and check everything when you get them in. i dont care what company it is no one will get it all right.

I cleaned up this thread. I apologize to the membership That might have seen the post exchange between a member and a Moderator. Those types of disagreements happen. We should always act professionally and have those debates behind closed doors (via PM) and never pollute the open forum and our community.

"Lead by example" and "Bring out the best in others" are some of our mottos.

In the open forums we make every effort here at GOlfwrx.com to "take the high road". In situations where confrontations break out we delete the posts and send a PM to explain.

I hope that we can mend the fence here. Please PM me if you would like.
