Why would Titleist drivers be inherently more expensive?

 

There is a lot more technology in the Rapture than the R. The Rapture is a completely new design for Ping, titanium/comp with a webbed top. A new take on comp designs and something Ping has never done before.

Ping will still offer an all titanium option in the G5 @ $300, which is cheaper than the R.

 

The R is by all accounts a 460cc K with the aluminum sleeve and a weight plug. It even has similar spin characteristics. I am in no way saying it is a bad driver, just pointing out that there isn't anything really new here.

 

The R&D, materials, and manufacturing costs of the Rapture are higher than the R, hence the higher price tag than the R.

Logistics, they have to be sent to China for the black nickel chrome finish just like the tour wedges had to be. That delays it quite a bit.

Perhaps it has to do with the amount of players they represent.

 

Propert in Carlsbad isn't cheap either.

Because Titleist has always been the rich boy company and all of there blades. They have never been out with a super oversized iron like evry other company and they were last to have a 460cc driver. And I just picked Titleist because their drivers have always been $400. Never would have thought that Ping would come out with a $430 driver.

i will just say this...reserve any judgement on the price until you have hit it. You cant forget it has a $180 aftermarket price shaft in it stock. Also, BTW, it is an absolute cannon!!!!! Honestly, I think people will be willing to pay more after they have hit it. It is that good. . I have gained at least 5 yds with this driver. (Before anyone thinks that its an improper fit on the G5, I was fit by the best at the PING factory for my G5).

Love the Ping stuff. I have the i5s and am waiting for my Rapture. The Ping hybrid and putters will not knock the Adams, TM and Cameron out of the bag, but Ping still has its name on most of the clubs in my bag.

 

BTW, wouldn't watermarks somewhere other than directly over the putter head still serve your purpose. Nearly all of the putter photos are ruined because instead of seeing the putter, you see a logo. This isn't top secret military equipment is it?? ;)
