Who's in the know?

If I was looking for someone to talk to regarding which private clubs have been effected most in the Coachella Valley who would they be? Looking at buying a membership down there and want to see what kind courses in particular have been hurt most.

A lot of the middle tier clubs have been hit very hard. Bermuda Dunes has been offering limited memberships with a 10,000 initiation. They even started giving open tee times on Golfnow.com. Stone Eagle has waived their initiation and is just 15,000 for the year, no trail fee or food min. I love the layout, and conditioning is amazing. Temp trailer clubhouse and a long cart ride from lot to range/course is a drawback. Only 153 members though.

All the heavy hitters clubs are unaffected. Bighorn is 350,00 with monthly dues of 30,000/year, and 1000 monthly trail fee. Hideaway is 150,000, monthly dues 1675. Madison club 200,000 with 1668 monthly dues. The Reserve, The Tradition, Vintage club 200,000+ initiation and 2000+monthly dues.

Cheaper clubs to join would be The Palms, 20,000 initiation, 650 monthly. Plantation is 17500 initiation, 695 monthly. Indian Wells is 25000, 799 monthly, 493 trail fee.

Super cheap clubs would be Avondale 10.000, 790 monthly, 550 trail fee, 1,100 food min. Chaparral, 7500 initiation, 1495/yr monthly, 350 trail fee. Desert Island 10,000 initiation, 775 monthly, 595 trail fee, 850 food min. , Monterey CC no initiation, 538 monthly, 650 trail fee.

Stone Eagle is the one I have my eyes and it seems now is the time to get in there! Thanks for your help and I will contact you if I need anymore information.

Stone Eagle is really a fun course. Lots of undulation and up and down all around. Turf quality is absolutely amazing. Doesn't get any play so there's very little divots in the fairways. Just pure cut grass everywhere. Greens are brutally tough with lots of undulation and fast. The one thing I don't like about SE is the long cart ride from lot to range and course and there's no amenties. No clubhouse no locker room, no grill room, nothing,...they're flat broke. And the shot values, to me, are poor. Just hit it there and you're fine. If not, you're out. You don't have to work the ball and you don't have to think too much. The views, however, are spectacular. Don't really see any bighorn sheep walking around, as opposed to Bighorn CC, where they're spotted more often. At SE, something about that side of the mountain they rarely go over that way.

They do have a 19th hole, a real 19th hole, about 175 yard par 3 to settle any skins. Real tricky green that's crowned and swaled on the edges.
