Who has hit them? Comparisons wanted
For anyone that has had a chance to hit the new cally x-tours, How do they compare to the current version, forgiveness, workability? How much are the bounce angles decreased? Also for T grind players, who has the stats on the bounce angle, what is the difference b/w the T and retail version?

As most of us have read from the "pics" topic, many are awaiting them, including myself. I'm about to reshaft my xtours with TC's, but wanted some input regarding these, as I'll wait a few months and put the TC's in the newer version.

Really hard to guess when Callaway would even begin to think about bringing these to market. Right now they have nothing new to combat Cobra, Ping, Mizuno with their new fall line-up. I had seen them in rough unfinished form through some manufacturing contacts but even the bigger well connected reps. had not seen them or been told about them--the pictures here were the first they had seen of them. Of course last year the same reps. showed the X-460s in October and nothing showed up until early spring. If that is the case with these I can expect a set to evaluate (and return) in late November like has happened before.

All the Callaway Reps are in meetings this week at Carlsbad and they will be getting a sneak peek at what is coming up for next year. They should have samples when they get back of all the new 2007 products.

Humm how's this? I will hit them and I'm sure I will like them better than the older X-tours. :idhitit:

Though much is taken much abides;
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

How about this, I hit them and I liked them better than the current X-Tours and then I woke up.

The other guy is right they will come back from their meeting and probably get samples in early October. They will then take those around to the dealers to get spring orders booked. They learned long ago a November/December release is DOA----just wait until spring and build up the salavation like the previous X-Tours.

  • 2 months later...

I had the opportunity to try out the new irons and compaired them with the X20 tours. (The sales rep was here today and he had them with him) I can tell that this is a really good looking club for being a callaway. The thinner topline and the overall matte finish is something i enjoy. The feeling was good the with Rifle Project X 5.0 in them. I would like 6.5s though but at this time I was just pleased to have been able to try them out. They are by far the hardest callaway club to hit so far but still this isn't a gameimproving club. I personally think this club will be a bigger hit than the current X-Tours. This club looks more like a classic golfclub. The X20 tours is the new X-tours in my opinion. They look more like the X-tours than the X18 PS with a traditional hosel and less offset. This is a great club for the 5 to 13 handicapper that wants the feeling of a forged iron but the gameimprovement of a traditional callaway. I also tried the FT-I driver and the FT-5 driver and I can tell you that this thing is sick! I did my best to hit with the to of the FT-I and when a regular driver "twists" in your hands the feeling with the FT-I was that it was dead square all the time. The price will be high but still the feeling of hitting the fairway almost all the time should make the price pretty small in my eyes. The only thing I have against it is the fact that it was a bit closed.

Having that said I would also like to point out that I am a titleist freak and that i prefer the titleist look on drivers but if i can improve my Fairway hit % i wouldn't hesitate to change to a square driver.

  • 2 weeks later...

I tried them indoor in a simulator some weeks ago.

The feeling when I hit the ball right was pretty disappointing but maybe because I am used to the nice touch of the MP32s.

Shaft was a Rifle Flighted.

The look was pretty nice though but the price of 1200 € is simply insane for it.

Release date will be Q1 next year as far as I know.
