Personally, I would rank all those mentioned over Eagle Mtn. The "concave" nature of the course is just not appealing to me. It has a few good holes, a few very awkward holes, and the rest are just meh.

I would play it over the others only if you had to squeeze with your budget a little and you have already played the course being skipped.

We-Ko-Pa Saguaro #1 in the state in my not-so-humble opinion. It is a great example of a design that is challenging, yet generous and forgiving of the miss without resorting to "containment" mounding.

Any thoughts on Eagle Mountain? Is it good enough to bump a Boulders, Troon or We-Ko-Pa course from the rotation for a golf trip in September? The bowl shaped fairways might enable a few decent rounds from the group.

Ugh...no way!!! Plus it is in pretty bad shape...played it 2 weeks ago.

The fairways as you describe are not on every fairway either. In addition the other courses allow you to hit out of the desert if you do go in...whereas at Eagle, if you are off the FW, you are done...very penal!

Sounds like you're implying you have some high handicappers in your group. That's the only reason you'd want to bump any of those other courses for Eagle Mtn. The bowled fairways are certainly welcome after getting beat up at other desert courses. Eagle Mtn would likely be more enjoyable if you have higher handicappers in your group.

I haven't played Eagle Mountain, but I can say that I still found We-Ko-Pa Cholla to be an incredible amount of fun, even though I lost a lot of balls.

I play to a 25 HC or so, and I found the beauty and condition of the course to be a nice distraction from the lost balls.
Just something to consider, though it sounds like you will be playing a lot of great courses so it might be nice to have a course that might help a little bit.

If it was me, I would probably want to see the best of the best if at all possible. even if I might not score that well.

just got back from my Phoenix trip....played both Wildfire courses, Eagle, and Troon North (Pinnacle).

Eagle Mountain was great, especially considering the price. really enjoyed the course, very fair for higher handicappers (not a lot of forced carries from what i remember) but challenging for better players as well. There were some spots in the fairways that were being worked on, but i was never in that area so it didn't affect play. This Kansas golfer can't figure out the crazy grass they had on these greens (and wildfire), but had a wonderful time. Staff was friendly, veiws are wonderful, pace of play was really good even with my twosome being behind a foursome.

It's not better than Troon by any means, but it also costs half as much...and probably half as much as boulders and wo-ke-pa as well. Troon (Pinnacle) is TOUGH, and if you've got some higher cap players, i'd certainly spend a day here and save some $.
