Courses in/near Nashville

First post for me.

I recently moved to Nashville for work. Does anyone have some suggestions of courses to check out before the weather gets too cold? Thanks!

Old Fort & Indian Hills (my place, I'm biased) in Murfreesboro, Hermitage & Gaylord Springs in Nash.

Both the Hermitage and gaylord springs are nice courses, gaylord springs is a links style lots of fun,

+1 on Greystone. Very nice. Played the General at Hermitage, nothing special and $$$. Never played it but Foxland course at Fairvue looks nice.

Another vote for Old Fort in Murfreesboro (biased also, my home course). But I think the true gem in Middle Tennessee is President's Reserve. Old Fort was redesigned several years ago by the same architect for President's Reserve, Denis Griffiths.

Also, Bear Trace (Nicklaus Design) in Tullahoma and in Chattanooga (worth the drive).

Gaylord Springs is nice too. I understand they have new greens that are awesome.

Best course for the money is Greystone only 35-40 min west of downtown on 40E - Hermitage is way over priced for the layout the Generals is a good old style layout, tree lined and more tactical then just bomb and gouge, the presidents is just uninspiring to play nothing special and can be scored fairly easily on- only play that on a 40* day in December still wants $70 to play when they don't even overseed and only have 10 people on the course.

All the Bear Traces are worth the drives and Old Fort is a nice little track, good for a muni especially if you live closer to that side of town.

Gaylord Springs usually runs some good deals during the winter too, some play all day rates or cheap replay rates.

I play in Nashville quite often. My in laws live there,and well as you can guess,when we go there I golf. Gaylord course is amazing,but is pricy. Played there when we stayed at the Gaylord hotel,after I got married. I usually play at Kings Creek down by Spring Hill. I have not found many near,or around Nashville area that are not "Private" courses. Given you are near Franklin everything there is pricy,and you have to know someone to play the really nice courses in Nashville. Hope you end up liking Nashville.
