Making the journey to Pechanga

..but need 1 more course nearby..

A buddy and I are going to play pechanga right before x-mas and need another must play near there. Right now we are leaning towards Redhawk. Any other good recommendations?

I would recommend Eagle Glen - 9 holes will be like Pechanga and 9 holes are on flatter grounds- great course. Also try the Legends ( Temeku Hills) Have Fun

Golf club of california, about 20 mins south in fallbrook right off the 76 going towards the ocean. Amazing course and run ya about 45 bucks if I remember right.

redhawk is right down the street. I haven't seen it for over a year but a fun course. just check out the shape of the course on greenskeeper.org

The golf club of california is a good track though. used to be private now they offer tee times.

Temeku Hills (now called Legends Golf Club) has changed ownership and I hear that it is in good shape now.
Legends is in Temecula (near the wineries) so it is close to Pechanga.

If you have a car, lots of choices. Closest are Redhawk and Temecula Creek. Redhawk used to not overseed so you might be playing on dormant bermuda fairways. Temecula Creek has 27 holes and is close to Pechanga, nice track. Avoid The Legends although it is in pretty good shape now. Cross Creek is pretty but condition is iffy and the layout is odd on the back nine. The Golf Club of CA and The Golf Club of Rancho CA are both good layouts and in good usually in good condition.
My choice would be GC of CA but don't eat there. Some local food at Fallbrook GC just down Gird Rd from GC of CA or noodle place at Pala Casino

Don't bother with those. If you want first class (like Pechanga), head south 30 mins to Rancho Bernardo and play Maderas:

I was at maderas a month ago and it was in terrible shape. If I am going to pay for 100 dollar a round course it better be in good shape.

We just called redhawk and they are saying there have been frost issues at redhawk. This could ruin our early round. we are already set for pechanga at noon.

pechanga was in great shape last sat. we teed off at 9:30 and they didnt have frost there. crosscreek is suppose to be in amazing shape right now playing there tm morning.

Cross creek was a bery fun track except for the 30 mph winds. It made the course play very tough.

Pechanga is just awesome and kicked my arse. I can probably shoot 10 strokes bettter once i get to know the layout better.

I just wish the courses wernt so damn far

Those hilly courses weaving through the mountians makes it tough and make u play smart. Cross creek is cool and a great value.

Journey is probably one of the best public tracks in So Cal and is by far the #1 value.

So how was the condition of Journey? I might be making the trip soon. Thx and Merry X Mas!!!

We teed off around 12:15 and winds were a lot calmer than morning round. I loved everything about pechanga but the greens were a bit trampled near the hole. Seems like someone didnt know how to walk in spikkes.


I highly recommend. Just check the forecast for winds.

How is a course that costs $200 a round the #1 Value in SoCal?

it is in great shape. I am going to head over there now amd play. It is not 200 anymore. it is 130 on weekends 120 during the week and 59 bucks twilight

Yup. I think we finished with about 15 minutes of daylight to spare. Not to mention it got really cold, really fast through the last 3-4 holes.

I go out SoCal every January to visit an old navy buddy and play a couple rounds over the weekend. Buddy got a job at Pechanga casino when it opened and we play Journey every time I go out. With his employee dicount .....$49. Journey at Pechanga is an awsome course and while I haven't played a ton of courses, Journey is 1 of my favorites. It's always in fantastic shape, and the views and scenery are awsome. How about that view from #6 teebox ? 175 feet down to the fairway, amazing!!

Another course I like is Cimmaron up near Palm Springs.........In perfect condition, surrounded by the snow capped San Jacinto mountains, the view is breathtaking...........

I recall that hole clearly. we played from the gold I think. I thought i could aim for the far left bunker and be good. I landed just short of it and took double. I think the play is to aim further right and hit a nice draw. next time.

Yep Pechanga is $59 right now through the end of February if you play twilight. Crap, this just means more players slowing it down.

Great course. All others in SoCal going with biscuit brown fairways (tight lies) including Maderas, which I still find to be terrific.

I played there today for 59 bucks. Great shape but the greens take a beating. People need to learn to pick up there feet when on the greens. Fired 76 from the tips in the wind. Not bad birdied 1 and 18. Couldnt get anything to fall all day.
