Memphis, TN Single Round

Make Reccomendations

Guys, I'll be in Memphis on January 21st for a little weekend family vacation, and I get to play one round that Saturday.

I'd like to play the nicest public course in the area. Things that are important to me for this round are scenery and flat tee boxes. Good course condition matters as well. I know it's January, but I still want an enjoyable round.

Please give me some thoughts!

Mirimichi for sure. I worked there for 2.5 years and its by far the best public course in the area. Biased opinion aside, the service is incredible and fact you can hit as many balls as you like PLUS covered carts.......its worth every penny. If you want some good food close to the course.....try Woodstock Deli (just up the road from the golf course) they have fantastic BBQ and even better BBQ Pizza.

Thanks guys. I emailed the assistant pro about the rates that time of year, but he hasn't responded. Are the rates on the website the regular rates, or the winter rates?

I enjoyed Cherokee Valley. It was the only course I played there, but it was nice. Being Zoysia, it should be in pretty good shape all year.

There SHOULD be winter rates. Let me txt one of the pros and ask............Ill repost asap

Nope, same rates at Mirimichi. However if it turns out to be too much for you. There is a very very nice public course on the Naval Base in Millington just north of Mirimichi. Its called Glen Eagle Golf Course. Champion Bermuda greens, bermuda all around. They used to have US open qualifiiers there back in the day. Should play around 7000 yds. It shouldnt be more than $35 or so.

Ahhh I love Cherokee. Those are some of the best fairways in the Memphis area other that TPC Southwind or Spring Creek Ranch

Glen Eagle in Millington or Mirimichi in Millington would be great choices. Both have EXCELLENT staff that are friendly and both courses are a very good challenge.
