Moving from ProV1 to Z-star?

I presently play the ProV1 and after a brief time playing the new Z-Star am considering switching to it. Anyone else move to the Z-Star? Comments or findings? Thanks.

also currently play pro v, what is it that would make you switch?
Off the tee, long iron play, short iron, or on the green?
White or yellow?

For me the z star yellow is the better ball. No loss of distance, the spin is awesome, and the cover is crazy durable. Aaaand, the ball feels great off the putter. My buds are titleist kool-aid drinkers that admit that it's a great ball they would play, if it had "Titleist" on it.

+1!! I am a 2 hncp and switched from prov1 to the Zstar yellow last summer. great ball, excellent durability. all my 'titlist' buds have tried it and agree. I love the fact I can see it from the tee box while it is out in the fairway - usually 20-30 yds in front of them!!

Switched from Pro V1 to Z Star. I can control it off the tee. I like the performance around the greens better than the new ProV1 -- spins a little more on chips/flops. Performs well in the Kansas wind. Did not notice a difference in distance. Durability about the same. Bonus -- you can get good deals on them online. I've got 10 dozen at home for $25/dz.

I have actually gone back to the Pro V1. Played the Z-Star the past two years. The Z-Star is a great ball but I felt there was a noticeable difference in spin. More specifically in short game shots around the green. Did not feel like the Z-Star checked up enough on chips and pitches.

not to mention you can get dozens on amazon for $40 bucks I think. I ordered a few this year, and I am Titleist through and through. Keegan seems to love the ball, which is a nice endorsement for me, similar in age and swing speed (although about 15-20 strokes off his scores obviously).

I actually found better [i]all around[/i] performance with the Z-Star XV. The original Z-Star was great, but as a few others have already mentioned, I too was used to more green-side spin. The Z-Star X was better for me around the greens, but I lost distance off the driver.

Gave the XV a shot and found a perfect balance between the two.

I still play the the ZStar, I will try the new versions in 2012. I really think that Srixon AND Bridgestone make the best playing golf balls

Thanks for the replies. I really like the feel of the new Z-Star. To me it feels between the Prov1 and ProV1x. That was where the Penta felt also but I didn't like that ball for some reason. Not as soft as the ProV1 but softer than the ProV1x. It fits well for my game. The Z-Star goes straighter off the driver and stops well on the greens. Now that they're on the buy 2 get one like the Penta's I might stock up since all my Christmas shopping is completed.

I really like the new Z-Star XV a lot! Great ball. I was testing it last summer for 6 rounds of golf and played some wonderful wedge shots that played perfectly from a spin/distance standpoint. Also, I was able to reach many par 5's in two with the XV - so no complaints regarding distance. My only complaint is the PRICE TAG. At $44.99 who do they think they are, Titleist? Does anyone else agree with me? I know this thread is about the Z-Star and not the XV. But the Z-Star disappointed me... Sure, there was durability - but I never was able to dial in with my irons the way I wanted with that ball. One thing that the Penta and Pro V's have always delivered for me is CONSISTENT distance throughout my set of irons and wedges. I never found that to be true with the Z-Star. In some cases I was hitting shots well short and others longer. And I play pretty much the same golf course as I have a country club membership. I do venture onto other courses but not very often during the summer months.

I'd give the Z-Star XV and A+ grade and the Z-Star like a B+. My only complaint about the XV is the price tag... That's why I stock up on the Pro V1x right now - at $39.99 per dozen I am a happy camper. Once you move into the $44.99 price range I just get annoyed. It's not worth the extra money in my opinion.

I used to play the Z star X and it worked great everywhere but the driver w too much spin. was playing the B330S for awhile but switched to the new Z Star XV tour yellow and love it! any consolation I play a lot of competitive golf. it is super stable in the wind, long and spins enough around the greens. The cover and durability is the best I have seen in a ball. can't go wrong w any Srixon ball or product!
