How do Odyssey white ice inserts feel? Just bought a bronze anser style...

Couldn't help myself. I was just browsing the Callaway Preowned site and saw this anser style (#1) Odyssey white ice tour bronze putter for $95 in "like new" condition. Having bought all my clubs from this site, I know this means brand new. I am an anser guy, got about a dozen in various trim. Custom Sunset Beach's, older SC tei3's, classic Pings, Yamada, Betttinardi, etc.. I know I love this design, but the insert putter is brand new to me aside from the 1995-ish SC tei3 putters. How is this Odyssey white ice stuff? Wondering what to expect. As I said, it was an impulse buy.

Great putter! I snagged one just like this last year from GS during a special sale for a great price. It's an occasional gamer, but I switch putters pretty often. This one always makes it back into the lineup though. White Ice is a solid feel, not mushy at all.

Somewhat addictive feel. I had the #7 and 2-ball. Cushy feel, you can feel the ball sink into the face. Not loud like a bronze Anser though the feedback is audible-- similar to the sound of dropping a plastic ball in a glass cup. I prefer non insert putters. But the White Ice has a satisfying sound/feel for a multi piece putter.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I am pretty excited about this putter for some reason. Just ordered a white midsize Iomic absolute grip for it. Can't wait to roll some balls on the practice green. I have never bought into the insert thing, not by a long shot. Last insert putter I bought was about 17 years back, the tei3, I am looking forward to seeing how this "white ice" feels.

White Ice #1 355g is my gamer and I like it a lot. I have gamed quite a few insert putters over many years and this is my favorite to date. Good pick up

I picked up a #9 White Ice last summer -- I think it's got the best of both worlds. Softer feel & sound, but it doesn't feel like the ball "bounces" off of the face like with some insert putters.

Up til this past year, the putter I've played with since I started is a Callaway Bobby Jones with a seriously deep-milled face. I mean, it looks and feels like the roughest part of a steel rasp. I think that's why I've never really liked the feel of the Camerons of the world (except for the TeI3 and Red X) -- the ball always sounded so soft coming off my BJ putter.

I wanted to mess around with something that has a much different setup from my BJ putter (double-bend, face-balanced), and when I picked up the #9, it seemed to be exactly what I needed. Heel-shafted, but with a feel that wasn't too far off from my other putter.

It's a great putter. Feels soft and firm at the same time. It's great for me on putts inside 10 ft. I think everything is going to go in from close range. I went away from it for a few months with a Rife IBF Tour putter, but missed too many short putts with the Rife, so the White Ice is back in the bag, and probably isn't going anywhere for the foreseeable future.

My current putter is the Odyssey #1, but with the XG 2.0 insert. I tried out the White Ice at the same time, and it was noticeably more firm. I love the balance of this model during the stroke, hopefully it works out for you. If you like a firmer feel (as far as inserts go), you should be pleased.

What we think really doesn't matter, it's how it feels to YOU.

If you're really wondering, if there's one brand of putter you can say is everywhere, it's Odyssey so it shouldn't be too hard for you to find out.

Otherwise, be patient till it arrives. As you know, cally preowned has a great return policy.

Agreed. But I have this putter and it is fairly soft, but not too soft. On a scale from 1-10; 1 being firm and 10 being soft, it is around a 6.
