I reclaimed my basesment rec room when the kids moved out

in response to Dad 2-3 on displaying your golf clubs, you are on the right track. Stake claim to your basement before someone else beats you to it. I have reclaimed our basement since the kids recently flew the nest. I have been creating my golf room/ man cave. it is a work in progress. But it is coming along pretty well. Cost has been minimal, since the basement was already finished off. So, I was able to utilize what was already down there. My only cash outlays, besides the clubs and refinishing, have been some Astro turf to cover the Air hockey table and 10 pro shop wall display racks I picked up on e-bay.
Please keep in mind that I am not a Club Ho. I might me slightly promiscuous when it comes to Old MacGregors. But I am not a ho. I hope these photos give you some ideas of how to do it "on the cheap".

Ironmaster O., nice job! I like your use of the conventional pro-shop display racks, it offers 'architectural detail.' (Did that sound TOO HGTV?) It appears you have a 'good-sized' room that allows for their use. One advantage to this approach, is that, it moves the clubs above eye-level for most 3-year-olds.(Personal experience.)

One suggestion that I might add, for other viewers looking for ideas, is to check-out the local thrift stores and flea markets. I recently picked-up a home-made rack at a thrift store really cheap, that the previous owner had built for displaying either pool cues or fishing rods. It has seven slots, not enough for a set of irons, but enough to display some "prized" drivers: Wood Bros, Louisville, MacGregor, Hogan, etc. Just a little refinishing and 7-down, a few hundred to go!

Fred,
the woods are armour 4375. Pre-WWII. In the catalog it shows the Armour Hogan model as Deep face, The Armour Model as a more conventional club head and The Armour Demaret model as pear-shaped and for a less skilled golfer. I can't remember what year; but it was somewhere 1938-40, I think.
Interesting side note about the woods. I bought a set of 945 irons on line for about 35 or 40 bucks. In the details describing the irons it mentioned that a set of Armour woods came with the irons. Imagine my surprise when they arrived already refinished and in great shape.

Have you thought of building a small putting green area and have the Ironmaster s there to look at and roll the potato on those frozen nights in Indiana???? I have a friend that has your similar setup and put in a small net to hit into and a small green, He lives in Spokane which has cold winters like you.

Tim,
what do you mean our winters are cold? Heck, the temperature is already up to 15 degrees today. And it was a balmy 10 degrees last night when we went skiing. And we had a lot of sunshine one day last week, I think.

Aside from that, your idea of a putting green is dynamite. I think I will get on that very soon. I am sure my blushing bride will be elated with the plan!?! But it is always easier to seek forgiveness than to ask permission. Besides, it will keep me out of the saloons. I will let you know the results, right after I recover from the gunshot wounds.
