Scotty Cameron - Lock and Load shaft

I saw a video interview of Scotty at the PGA show. The topic was centered on an adjustable shaft system designed for belly and long putters - he called it the "lock and load" shaft system. It has the ability to quickly change the shaft length by as much as 6". Scotty says in the interview that they are close to getting approval from the USGA. Google search results have very little info on this. Our local Titleist rep was the first to tell me about it and he indicated that it will actually make it to market.

 

Does anyone have any additional information on this?

Sounds pretty cool. Would assume if the USGA approves it, then they are in some way telling us there is no plan on banning the belly putter.

I would agree with your reasoning. I found this topic on another golf forum. Most of the posts were negative. I frankly think this would be a phenomenal new advancement. First, the production and inventory management processes will be greatly simplified. One putter will basically fulfill the shaft needs of almost all players. Second, if an easy to use fitting method is developed in conjunction with the new shaft, users will greatly benefit.

Reviving old thread! I’ve recently found and purchased locally one of these putters with adjustable shaft and lock mechanism. Anyone with insight into what the needed tool is to lock (and unlock) the mechanism? Despite my best efforts I’ve been unable to unlock the mechanism.

That putter was used for putter fittings, not sold retail. Your adjustment coupler looks damaged tho, I don't think the 2 sleeves should be separated like that. Either the inner sleeve is pushed down or the outer sleeve is pushed up. They should be aligned. And I don't believe there was a tool either from what I've read.

I had never considered decoupling of the two components, I always just assumed that was the norm as it is the only example I had ever seen. I was aware that it was used for fittings, and was happy to come across it locally. Bought from someone who previously worked in a pro shop. I will try and take a stab at re-aligning the two components to see if I then have any further luck adjusting the mechanism, its just such a neat piece I'd love to have it working as it was originally designed.

I've got that same shaft ... bought it to take the head off and use on another project. Still have the grip on a third putter. It did come off a fitting club.

 

Yours is broken ... it works without a tool.
