This is all assuming that OSU beats UM.

 

People are down on Louisville because they have no defense, not because they play in the Big Least. That being said, I'd like to see OSU and UM for various reasons, the least of which is the money it'll generate for the Big 10. You can make an argument for a lot of teams. Texas lost in week 2 to OSU, and only has one loss. Florida is a solid team, and Louisville is undefeated. If OSU plays UL, it'll be a blowout. Some may say that will be the most fair game, considering UL could be undefeated (assuming they get past a good Rutgers program, on the road, on Thursday night). I think that OSU v UL would be a little bit boring to watch.

Hypothetically, lets say OSU plays Louisville. Everyone thinks Louisville is no match for OSU, but everyone though Texas was not match for USC, USC not match for Oklahoma, and LSU no match for Oklahoma.

 

Remember they have almost a month to prepare for these games. When all you hear for a month is that you "Louisville" are no match for some one, you may tend to get more prepared for a game.

 

Just a thought. Don't want to upset those OSU fans.

I'll chime in...Ball State did all their work against the 2nd and 3rd string players. I think Carr was sending a message to the kids to not let their heads get too big. The low scoring game against North Western was played in some of the worst conditions a football game could have been played in, my sons pee wee team played that morning and it sucked (we live 15 min from THE BIG HOUSE). North Western put a beating on a good Iowa team last weekend. SOOOOOO all that being said I'm gonna let you in on a little secret...I was in Columbus two years ago and at THE BIG HOUSE last year for THE biggest rivalry in sports and MEEEECHIGAN handed the suckeyes both of those games. MEEEEEchigan is gonna put an old fashioned beating on the pretenders from OSU. Lastly Carmen ohio is a whore and script ohio is over rated.

Not many people thought Texas was no match for USC, people just assumed USC would win because of 2+ years of dominance.

 

I will bet a VERY large sum of money in an OSU Louisville National Championship, that OSU wins by at least 10 points...

 

By games I've watched with OSU offense and Louisville's D I can't see a scenario where OSU doesn't put up 30+ points on them, and I cannot see Louisville's offense matching that of Ohio State.

 

I compare this years OSU team to the late 90's Bronco's scored A LOT of points, had a pretty good defense (good enough to win them most games by 10+, including every playoff game in 98 their best season)

 

Clearly I'm neither a fan of Louisville or OSU but I think the two best teams in the country should play for the National Championship, and to me that isn't an undefeated Louisville squad.

 

 

Here is how I would rank National Championship hopefuls as of today (Nov. 8 2006)

 

1. OSU- clear cut #1 have to lose to lose National Championships hopes

2. Michigan- If they beat OSU they punch their ticket to Arizona

t3. Texas- with their only loss coming to the #1 Team in the country but will have a battle with Michigan and Louisville to gain the bid must beat Texas A&M LARGE in their final game in order to put up an argument if Louisville runs the table

t3. Louisville- undefeated have looked great at times, have looked unimpressive at times, in my opinion they have to win handily over Rutgers to have any shot at a National Title...tough end to the season but if they come out 12-0 its going to be tough to deny them a bid

4. Florida- needs a lot of things to happen (OSU blowout Michigan), Texas look lackluster coming in, Louisville dropping a game...not to mention beating rival Florida State in their last regular season game.

 

 

Then you have Auburn who would needed what Florida needs but probably as well as a Florida loss even though they beat them...(not happening)

 

 

 

So my National Championship prediction is..........THE OHIO STATE BUCKEYES vs LOUISVILLE CARDINALS

 

I do think Louisville will run the table and I do think they will be the BCS #2...I don't think they should be there but I can't argue the system anymore than it has already been argued.

 

Can we get some love for an 8 team playoff!?!

Remember Texas has to play a Conference Championship Game, I think against Nebraska who is getting better, and you can just about forget about Auburn unless Arkansas loses twice. They won't make it to the SEC Championship let alone Nat Champ!

couldn't agree more. they showed a stat where their d-line averaged 6-1 and about 255. they've basically got 4 linbackers putting their fingers to the ground and giving it all they have. the second half was text book 'all heart defense'. if they run the table they should have a shot at osu and who knows they might even surprise some more people.

I don't mean to piss in the Rutgers Kool-Aid, but I just don't think that Rutgers is of the same caliber that other one loss teams are. If they beat WVU, they should obviously play in a BCS bowl, I just don't think it will be the national championship. The NC is determined by these things called computers. I don't think the computers give a whole hell of a lot of credit for beating USF, UNC, et al. If there are two undefeated teams, they should meet in the NC, but it will not happen. I said earlier that there should be an 8 team playoff, but then you'll hear people complaining about not being the 8th team.

"It is obvious they can compete with the best in the nation." Is it obvious? Have they had to play teams like Ohio State or Michigan on the road? Their hardest game was probably the one at Pitt. But even Pitt can't sell out Heinz Field. Until we see what this team can do on the road, I'll keep my opinion that they do not deserve to be in the national championship. If they go into Morgantown, and lay a 50-0 smack down on the Mountaineers, I'll be in Rutger's corner.

Each year they have reworked the BCS and they say that it is better, but we keep having all this crap keep coming abound from the BCS. There has got to be something else out there that can be done to resolve this problem that we call the BCS.

Well Colt McCoy is guess is a franchise QB because Texas crumbled when he got injured...

 

So right now I can't see how OSU Michigan don't play in the Nation Championship game as long as the game isn't a 20 point blowout.

 

Florida is really the only team right now I can make any argument for but their game today and Auburn's loss REALLY hurt them even though they won.

I think after Florida's performance today and their whole conference performance in which they only put up over 330 total yards on one team which was Kentucky and trust me that isn't saying much.

 

Right now, after today I think the only team that really deserves an outside chance of getting in should be USC if they can take care of business against Cal, but then again Cal's loss will hurt that theory.

I've got a question, but I don't know if anybody would know the answer. If both OSU and Michigan play in the BCS National Title game, would the 3rd place team in the Big 10 play in the Rose Bowl...or would that become an at-large bid? Also, who would be interested in watching a BCS game consisting of Wake Forrest, Boise State, or Rutgers playing each other in one form or another?

Not sure about your first question but I would assume it would go to an at large bid...

 

I think Rutgers Boise State would be the only matchup that would be worthwhile with those 3 teams and I don't think it will happen...

 

 

 

About the Michigan OSU National Championship...

 

After today's craziness, I can't see anyone but these two teams playing in the title game. Sure USC might deserve it if they win out, but these two teams have been the class of NCAA from Week 1 and just because they are both in the Big10 doesn't mean they shouldn't meet for a second time in the National Title game.
