Hi,

18 englishmen are coming to stay at Caesars Palace for 7 nights in November 2012 and we intend to play 3 rounds of golf... can anyone advise which is the best way to book the courses we intend to play,..is it best through a specialist golf breaks booking company or is it best to book direct with the courses myself.. any suggestions re companies or courses to play would be appreciated..I am trying to incorporate both good courses and value for money..thanks

I would try Caesar's Palace concierge desk first -- they might be able to put together a nice package at lower cost -- having 18 guys staying a week is a good thing in November for Las Vegas. Maybe some of the people who visit Vegas more regularly will chime in

I was in Vegas last year for three rounds and booked all my own times, but I was playing as a single, so it was much easier to find tee times. For 18 guys (five tee times), you'll definitely want to work with a golf agency or the hotel concierge. Personally, I think I'd go through the concierge, as you might be able to score some perks that an golf company might not be able to provide.

Have you given thought to where you'd like to play?

Thanks for that fella's, had a bit of thought geoangus and I really want to play wolf's creek,.. only because of the reviews on here.. as for the other 2 courses I haven't a clue really, yet, I was hoping to get some ideas from this forum but I don't want to go throwing really expensive courses at the lads,..maybe about $100 a round max..any ideas..and maybe the other 2 a bit closer to the strip than w.creek,..don't want 1 hour plus drives all the time.. any suggestions?

I played Paiute - Wolf course about 2 weeks ago. It was a very nice course and facility. They have a replica of the 17th at Sawgrass. About 20-30 minutes from the strip. I paid $69 for a super twilight time at 3pm (golfnow's site wouldn't take my tee time as I was driving to the course and they didn't pick up the phone as I tried calling them which would have saved me $17 had I booked through them)
I went off by myself. Got paired up with another single about 9 holes in. We didn't catch up to the 4some in front of us until the 17th. A 4 hr round total.

Paiute was one of the courses I played, and I'd agree that it was a great combination of good golf and value. Three 18's to choose from, and while I guess the Wolf is the most difficult, I found it to be very fair. I'm going to guess you're used to playing in the wind, so you'll have that going for you, as it sounds like it is always breezy there. Approx 30-40 minute drive from the strip?

The other course I played was TPC Las Vegas, but that might tip the scales with regards to budget, if you're trying to keep it below $100. Rio Secco was the last I played, if I remember, it cost me approx $80.

Good courses for the value would be Coyote Spring, Paiute, I like Boulder Creek, might be able to get a good deal at Cascata (though I'm in a now way a fan of that golf course). Please be warned, don't waste your money on Walters Golf properties, while I actually like Bali Hai, they're not worth the money the charge. TPC Las Vegas isn't bad either, but I'm not sure what their rate is.

Shadow Creek and Southern Highlands are the two best courses in Vegas without question, but they're very pricey.

All the courses mentioned here are good quality tracks. I'd also look at Angel Park, Tuscany, and Rhodes Ranch if price is an issue. Another to check out is The Las Vegas Country Club if price isn't an issue, and its really close to the strip. It's in good shape right now and should be great in November.

Safe travels!

great info,....... i think i am nearly there in deciding where to take the fellas,.. my thoughts at this moment are,.....
1) WOLFS CREEK.... 2) PAIUTE WOLF..... and i am leaning towards COYOTE SPRINGS or RIO SECCO for a third course,.. my decision is only based on the reviews i have received from you guys across the pond, so i think i'll let this topic soak a few more days just in case someone has anything further to add (courses / best tee off times) which my sway my decision then i think i will fire them into the concierge desk at Caesars Palace to see what they can sort out for me.. thanks again

Keep in mind that Caesars is going to push you towards Rio Secco (they own it). I've played there a couple of times and found it not worth the $$$. Cascata is the other course the own, and while it's a lot nicer than Rio Secco, I'd have to also say not worth the $$$. I'd push the concierge to find non-Caesars properties for you.

I'd play Coyote Springs rather than Rio Seco. Rio is closer to the strip, but Coyote is worth the drive. You can alos consider 36 holes at Pauite. All three Paiute courses are worth playing. Wolf is the most difficult. Here's a link to Vegas course suggestions

If I was planning this trip for 18 of my British golfing buddies, this would be my itinerary:

day 1- arrive at Las Vegas airport and rent 3-4 big cars, drive to Bellagio (15min, right next to Caesars) and get the buffet ($US16-35) so you get to see the wonders of the Strip and feed that grumbling stomach, Vegas style. Then I would drive straight up to Wolf Creek (90miles from Caesars, so you guys that think it's an hour away, you must be driving close to 100mph to get there that fast) and stay at Eureka Casino and Resort for your 1st night in Vegas (they have cheap stay and play packages http://www.golfwolfcreek.com/sites/courses/layout9.asp?id=863&page=48775 )

day 2- get the 1st tee times out for the day for all of you. Wolf Creek is my favorite course in the world but you will want to play it more than once b/c you won't know the sight lines of your tee balls, how far you can carry some of the tempting shortcuts, and how much elevation to factor in for the many uphill/downhill shots. It's such a tough layout that if you tee off later in the morning, you can expect 5 1/2 to 6 hour rounds. Not fun. Take a long lunch in the excellent clubhouse grill and play Wolf Creek again at dusk. Replay rates are also greatly discounted (approx. $75). Then drive back to Caesars that night and check in.

day 3- wake up late, get massages at Caesars' amazing spa facilities (If you get massages at Caesars, you'll pay $100+/hr, or drive 5 minutes west on Spring Mountain Rd near Caesars to go where locals go for cheaper asian foot massages, $20-30/hr). Recover from the transatlantic flight and 36 holes yesterday. Maybe gamble a bit that night.

Day 4- If it's warm enough, hang out at the pool or venture to some of the surrounding casinos next door, then drive 30min to Pauite to catch a twilight round of golf on the Wolf, their best course. Come back to Caesars to eat, clean up then party/gamble your brains out that night.

Day 5- repeat massages, then play twilight at Coyote Springs, which is more than an hour's drive from Caesars. You can return your rental cars early today and save a few bucks. Airport transfer is much cheaper than that car rental.

Day 6- Go shopping at the outlet malls near Caesars (<10min cab ride) to get something for the Missus, then go crazy for the next 2 days.

Day 7- try to remember where your room is so you can find your luggage to bring back home to Britain. Don't forget to erase all the incriminating photos or text messages from your camera and phone.

On the plane home, recount the stories till your stomach aches from laughter, then forget everything that happened before you get home. Why? Whatever happens in Vegas, STAYS in.... ahhh.... you get the drift.

BTW, my avatar is the par 5 #12 at Wolf Creek.
