Florida Space Coast in Oct

Staying in Cocoa for five days in Oct. Suggestions for courses under $100 would be appreciated!!

There's four good courses nearby, none of which will come close to $100 in October. Harmony Golf Preserve is Johnny Miller design about 30 minutes west. Savannahs is a good muni north in Merritt Island. Viera East in Rockledge, and the Cocoa Beach CC are close in options. You could also drive 45 minutes west to Orlando, and have a lot more choice.

Thanks, will look at those options. Just played a couple courses in Orlando back in April...Waldorf course was a nice treat!!

[size=2]In October you shouldn't be coming anywhere near $100 on the Space Coast, so you could play just about anywhere![/size]

[size=2]Savannah[/size][size=2]'s is an OK golf course, but not great. Most of the holes are surrounded by either houses or water, meaning you either hit the fairway or you're out of play. Not particularly fun golfing in my opinion. Viera East is hit and miss as far as course conditioning goes but has been better since they replaced the greens a year or so ago. [/size]

[size=2]For my money Cocoa Beach CC is tough to beat. It is a fun muni track and has some of the best views of any course on the Space Coast. They have 3 nines and the River course has 5 holes that go right along the Banana River. Probably 50% of the times I played out there I would see dolphins out in the water. I would always take visitors here for a round. For a muni that gets a lot of play I always found the greens to be in great shape.[/size]

[size=2]I would also recommend Walkabout Golf Club. It is about 20-30 minutes up north in Mims and is a fun and challenging layout.[/size]

I live in Cocoa, and for a really nice course try Duran CC, beautiful course and it's my favorite around here. Also, Walkabout is nice too, tough course though and that's the reason I don't really like playing it. Top two choices, Duran CC and Viera East.

Have been looking at Walkabout quite a bit on the internet. If the course condition is anything like the flyover pictures on the website then this is one I will most def play while there! Will look into Duran... is not one i have researched at all. Thanks.

It's a top one in the county. The difference between Walkabout and Duran is the scenery, Walkabout is surrounded by woods and Duran is surround by houses. I really do recommend Duran forsure.

last time i was in cocoa i played the cc there off a1a. There was a gator on the par 5 3rd i believe it was. it was awesome

If you head up I-95 a bit, LPGA International offers two nice courses that are usually in great condition.

The surrounded by houses.....is not helping your argument. But the research I did after your first suggestion seems to point to it being well conditioned.

Living and playing in south fl you tend to see that quite a bit. But it is still cool everytime!

Somewhat on topic, I grew up on the 5th hole at Rockledge Country Club in the 70's/80's. I did play a little bit of golf, but the fairways were better suited for baseball and football at that point in my life. I have always wanted to go back and play it sometime. Anybody know what shape the old girl is in these days?

Played Walkabout today...really enjoyed the layout, the course was in very good shape, the greens were nice and fast, natural surroundings and abundant birds and wildlife, and cost was $20!!! One of the best bang for your buck courses I have ever played! Glad we made the drive. Will play Cocoa next as it is only about 3 miles from where we are staying.

If possible request to play the River/Dolphin 9s at CBCC. They have the most holes along the water and are the most fun on the course. The Lakes 9 is not all that exciting.

Made a tee time for friday morning and they stated that river/dolphin would be the primary 18 for the day so that sounds good!!

Super nice, Recreation of Amen corner and a couple other famous hole recreated. I'm playing Walkabout Saturday and The Majors on Sunday with my son.[/size][/sup]

I'd even suggest heading a bit farther north and seeing if you can play Oceanside CC. I played there the other week, along with The Ocean Course in Palm Coast, and had a blast. Hard to beat 6 holes on the Atlantic Ocean, literally a lob wedge into the waves on some holes. And course conditions so well, you wonder if it ever gets played on.
