Taylormade 580xd driver

Anybody still playing the Taylormade 580xd Driver? Is this driver that good or is it just me?

I had one of those until about 3 years ago it cracked. Too bad, I liked that driver a lot.

a buddy of mine plays this and loves the stupid thing. fits him well. he's tried other, newer stuff but keeps going back to it.

A buddy of mine still plays one. I liked the 540XD even better. It had a sweeter feel.

All of the R5xx XD drivers should be conforming, as long as it was US issued. Regardless of whether it is retail, TP or tour issued (underlined loft) the XDs are fine.

I believe that the version without the lines in the center of the face were non-US issued. And yes, those are non-conforming, as are most of the R5xx models that don't have lines in the center of the face.

It is awesome. It's as long as any driver ever made. Newer ones may be more forgiving, or less closed at address, or adjustable, or lighter.... and may be equally long, but not longer.

I had the R580XD as my first "real" driver when I got back into the game and was ready to move, technologically, into the new millennium and beyond the 1990-something King Cobra metal wood and 1960's blades I had had handed-down...

It is still in my house, it will never leave. If for whatever reason, in the future, I need a driver or have lost faith in my current one... I am all-good, because I have that on back-up. Never getting rid of it.

it's a bomber. gave mine to a friend. while it is long, its dispersion numbers were not as tight as some other drivers, and in the end, if you aren't in the fairway, length is not important..

The R580XD-TP Tour is one of the (5) models R500 series that I have been hoarding for years now. The other (4) are the R500 Tour, the R510, the R510-TP, and the R540XD-TP Tour. All these are still as good as a driver gets with a 45" 757 Speeder shaft, tipped 1/2".

My favorite driver. Sold it to a friend 2 years ago and whenever I play with him these days, I always take a couple of drives with it and it always seems to find the fairway.

I have 2 of them in 8.5 and will never get rid of them. I've hit every driver out since about 03' and still play the 580xd for the most part.....although, for the moment, I've gone to my 425 tp just for a "slight" change . Taylormade should get back to the r series technology IMO
