What's a good Fairway Wood?

I'm looking to get a fairway wood 15-16 degrees and would appreciate some suggestions guys. I'm a low ball hitter with a 92 mph driver speed, and really struggle off the fairway and particularly out of the rough when using woods. Current setup is a 15 degree Callaway Big Bertha 3 wood with an Aldila stiff shaft. I use a Titleist 910D2 10.5 Driver which I love so thought of the 910F but it's apparently less forgiving? Next club in my bag after the 3 wood is my 3 iron at 20 degrees so maybe a 16 degree hybrid is also an option?

 

In summary what's a high launching wood that is good off the deck and out of the rough?

Look at the Tour Exotics Trilogy. Amazing for all that you ask for. If you have trouble getting it off the deck, maybe consider a four wood, or the RBZ HL 3W that really has 4W loft (might I couldn't hit it in an indoor launch monitor.) And, you could consider a 4W 7W mix. That should help you get more height, and fill in the gap. The Trilogy is super from the rough too.

I swing miles slower than you and really can't hit a decent shot with my own 10.5-degree Titleist driver (and older model). But my old 906F2 fairway wood at 15 degrees with an NV75 shaft is a great club. No problem getting it to what I consider 3-wood trajectory which for me means a low runner. But I'm swinging it at about 85mph, with your clubhead speed it'll really get up I'm sure.

Anyway, my point is I managed to compare my 906F2 to a brand-new 910F (not Fd) and it is practically the same clubhead without the adjustable hosel. So don't assume the 910F is hard to hit, I doubt it is if you put a suitable shaft in it.

That said, I've been using one of those "ultralite" Cleveland Launcher FL 3-woods with the 43R shaft that weighs about 50g. I'm afraid it has taken the 906F2 right out of the bag. It will definitely get the ball up and moving whether you swing hard, easy or somewhere in between.

Thanks guys. Some really good suggestions. I do like the idea of a higher lofted 3-4 wood and will try out the various options.

I just went through my fitting this past weekend. I prefer a 4 wood with a little more loft and shorter shaft. The fitter recommended the Ping K15 3 wood because it comes standard in 16* loft and goes along with the Ping K15 driver I purchased. He will build it to 42.25" with a 70 gram shaft and a little tungsten powder mixed with the epoxy, and other rabbits in the hat, to bring up the swing weight. The head is large, low profile and looks substantial. I have never owned ping before. However, I am totally impressed with these heads. My first swing with the fairway wood was better then any fairway wood swing I can remember. This launches the ball fast and then gives a penetrating flight. Perhaps they are not as flashy as the new adjustable models. But, they perform great. The "K" line from ping is a heel weighted wood design. The heel weight helps the golfer retard the speed of the heel, thereby speeding up the toe relatively, to close the face. It works well for my swing.

I have found the g10 fairway woods (i have 3 and 5) to be very easy to hit both off the tee and off the deck. I've tried the g15 and g20 fairways at Golfsmith and they seem to be just about as easy as the g10. The stock ping shafts work great for me, especially the tfc129f in the G10.

I have an older Adams BTY 16.5 that I snagged off ebay for a very nice price (< $50 shipped) that I love. Immediately kicked an Adams Fast 10 3w out of the bag and sent it to the local golf store for a trade in. I read that the Adams BUL fairways are pretty nice as well. My BTY has a head the size of a larger hybrid and hits well off the fairway or tee box.

Hi guys. Well I made my choice. Went for the Tour Edge Trilogy 16.5* 4-wood. It's as long as my old 3-wood and I can use it off tee, fairway and out of the rough with equal ease. Definitely what I needed in terms of forgiveness and useability, and less than half the price (in NZ) of the 910F and RBZ!
