Customizing Putters

Need some locations

Need some sites or addresses that do good resotoration on Puuters or places that can customise them to make they oil canned etc.

For an OC I would definately fo to BOS. They have a great looking finish for that and the price is great. Also, if you have any problems with it when you get it back their customer service is great.

Oh yeah, BOS won't restore your putter, just refinish it.

Tom does do some great work. I didn't know he did a OC finish?

I don't think he does an oil can finish. I thought the original post was asking for multiple finishes like "oil can etc."

 

In any case, I think Slighter's work is as good as anyone's and I trust their integrity. An experience I had with them was very upfront - and cost them business in the short term.

 

Tom does do some great work. I didn't know he did a OC finish?

Absolutely not!

 

I better fix that right now - it was a good experience.

 

I wanted a particular re-finish done to my putter. I spoke with one of the craftsmen at Slighter and we had an exchange over a couple of days. He didn't think he could do it properly so he wasn't going to do it.

 

He did speak to Tom and Tom himself said "no" that the quality wouldn't be where it needed to be and that I probably wouldn't be happy; he certainly wouldn't be happy. He even recommended another place that might be able to do the job for me.

 

I respect that. They could have easily accepted the putter and done the re-finish. I might have even been happy, but they declined anyway because the quality wouldn't be what they expect.

 

If the opportunity arises, I will certainly use them in the future for a refinish.

That's what I told him Mitch. LOL I had shot him a PM asking what the problem had been. Glad it turned out there hadn't been a problem at all.

No problem at all... sorry I gave that impression. I was totally impressed with the entire exchange and it kind of disappointed me that I couldn't get the work done through Slighter afterwards and I chose not to have anyone do the work.

 

Honest, it was meant to be a very good thing - I would not hesitate for an instant having the Slighter crew work on any putter if they say they can do the work.

 

That's why I teach math - I hate words.

That's OK. We forgive you. :) At least now you know that if you ever do have a problem, there are enough people on this board that can get it resolved :)

Are any places that can refinish a putter for around $50, I have a couple of Tad Moore putters I want refinished but I am in college and broke, I know $100 per putter to re-mill and refinish is the cheapest I have seen
