Cheapest Shop To Get Matte Black Oxide Finish?

I've got a Pro Platinum Newport Mil-Spec that I would like to get a Matte Black Oxide finish on. I don't really need any stamps or anything fancy, but I would obviously need paint fills redone after the refinishing.

 

What's my cheapest option? I've been looking into Putter Lounge and Black Oxide Services in Cali, but they seem a little expensive.

Looking at like $142 at Putter Lounge. Probably a little cheaper at BOS, which is what I'm leaning towards, but just looking for other options.

$142 for black ox? that seems high

clearly you're going to need the plating stripped and then to have it black ox'd. i'd say check with lamont and, if not him, KJ metal refinishing or BOS. looking at this price list (http://www.bosgolf.com/finishes.html) it looks like it should be about $40 cheaper than what you've been quoted.

That was my thinking, but Putter Lounge's base price is $97, then they wanted $25 for the chrome stripping and add in shipping, etc on top of that and it was around $140. I emailed and asked for a quote from Chop Shop and will also check into the places you mentioned.

Anywhere that does black oxide can do matte black oxide. The only change is the polish in the prep work. Less polished prep work means a less polished black ox finish. The more you polish, the more mirror like your final finish will be.

Wasn't local, had to ship it out. Very reasonable though.

I would recommend BOS for this job. They do excellent work and are knowledgeable in what to be careful of on plated putters. THAT is HUGE in having any plating stripped. Cheapest is seldom your best factor for determining who to go to, but I also understand wanting the best bang for the buck.
Go with BOS and you'll not be disappointed.

putter plating is very reasonable as well , however with something like my putter I would spend the extra scrilla to have piece of mind its done right !
