I managed to string together four straight double-bogeys en route to an 83. Two really bad breaks and two really bad tee shots. I saw it going differently in my head. Hahah.

I thought visualization was supposed to work. I shot an 83 on day one too. Six penalty strokes hurt me.

I'm really sorry to hear about your clubs! I hope your homeowner's insurance covers the theft. That's quite a round you shot, especially under the circumstances! Good luck tomorrow!
[/quote]

Well, it was stolen from my vehicle, at a friends' apartment. So maybe vehicle insurance would, but I think the deductible would make it cost prohibitive. And thanks, I wasnt very happy with it considering I was +4 on the last three holes, and parring out would have put me in contention for the overall. And actually I went back up to the club and realized a 76 was leading the Presidents flight so I was 3 back.

Anyways, today was a shotgun start at 9am with lunch and awards after. Started on 17 with the leader of my flight...a 76 yr old man who couldnt hit the ball further than about 185 yds but was deadly accurate with his shots and could putt his a** off..as a 9 handicap lol. He had a tough time with some longer holes today (even playing "up" from the member tees opposed to the back tees), and after 7 holes I had cut his lead to even it up. Step up to 6(our 8th hole of the day) hit a bomb, and then pull the dumbest shot of the day. I know missing this green left is a no-no yet I step up to the ball thinking "aim right on the water hazard line and hit a draw to the pin". Wind is right to left, and I absolutely pull-hook the sh*t out of it onto #7 tee box. Swift double there, back to 2 down. We both par 7. Get to hole 8, a 165 yd par 3 with water short and jail right and long. He puts it to 10' and I hit mine to within 5' of the pin but spin it back off the green to the front edge. I two putt for par and he sinks it for birdie...back to 3 down. Both par 9. Get to 10, I'm on in two after a terrible tee shot and good approach. He's on in three about 10' from the hole. I hit my birdie putt about 2' past, he drains his for par. I horseshoe mine for a freakin bogey. 4 down. I par 11 and he bogeys it. 3 down...and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Get to 12, a 225 yd uphill par 3. I hit a 22* RBZ hybrid on the screws and it looks perfect....OVER the green about 10 yds. Holy s***, RocketBallz sounds gay, but those things are hot. lol He winds up hitting a driver to 12' and two putts for par. I pitch up to about 15'. Hit a great putt that I thought was perfect on the right lip and it doesnt even budge left....past the hole about 4' since the green is pretty slippery. Ok, lesson learned I though, put it a ball inside left coming back and it should be money. The damn thing breaks LEFT this time completely outside the hole. WTF?? Smooth double and I'm now 5 back. Birdie the next hole and he pars and Im thinking maybe I can make a comeback with three holes left and down 4 with a reachable par 5 coming up and a long par 3 if I can play well. Well, I really screw up the par 5 and have to scramble for a par, blow a birdie op on 14 when he bogeys, and then make a terrible bogey on 16 (our last hole) when he three putts for a double bogey. Wind up 2 back and thats where I finished. Ho-hum round of 77 with 2 birdies. Oh well.. :dntknw: The lack of rangefinder (stolen along with my bag) really hurt me as our course is marked terribly for yardage and shots inside 100 yds I had no confidence going in with a yardage in mind. Oh well, next year should be different.

FWIW, a 73-74 (par 70) won the championship. Its definitely doable next year, I just really need to work on playing in tournament conditions more. Hope the rest of yall had a good day of tournament play!

Ours Is Scratch matchplay knockout over the season, we have another 36 hole scratch stroke play event that I believe should be our CC but unfortunately It Isn't
I've never done too well In the 36 hole scratch but won the CC In 2010, and won my Semi Final this past Saturday, beat the lowest Index at the club 3&2 and have the most In form player In the club In the final
September 2nd 36 In one day, can't wait, don't want to be known as a one hit wonder lol

Well junior championship wasn't any better haha 76-76 2nd round should of been a lot lower but 3 doubles on the back half helps nobody.

Semi final of the club matchplay on wednesday so hopefully a bit of a better result

That's a great score with three doubles. Best of luck in the matchplay then!

Ours starts 8/25. First round is stroke play, the it's match play the next day for the top four out of each flight. So basically you have only one round to get it done. I would rather see two stroke plays rounds and then cut to top four for the match play. Oh, I don't make the rules.

Thanks Sean, Won the semi final of the matchplay so have a 36 hole final for that coming up would put a brighter note on a miserable season! and then the North of England Masters tournament this Sunday on a very tricky course so anything under 80 and i will be more than happy

My club, Almansor Men's golf club championships were on August 11,12 and 19. Finished 3rd in my flight, except got DQ'ed for hitting from the wrong tee on one hole. The idiots I was playing with we're confused, and I didn't pay attention and hit from the blue with them, when we were supposed to hit from the black tees. Learning experience for sure.

Our club championship is one round of stroke play then the top four from each flight advance to match play. I won my flight yesterday for the stroke play portion and got the #1 seed in the match play.

Played my first match today and won 8 & 7. I never trailed the entire match. Final match play next weekend against the #3 seed. Can't wait!

8&7! You didn't see much of the course. :-)

Apparently I changed his game plan for the day in the first tee shot according to the other player in his cart. He apparently was going to hit 3 wood off the tee all day. I striped my opening tee shot on a par four to 98 yards out in the middle of the fairway, and he told the other guy in his cart that he has to hit driver now. I hit every fairway in the 11 holes and kept the pressure on.

He should have stuck with his game plan. It sounds like you messed with his head from the get go!

That wasn't the plan. My game plan was just to hit fairways and greens and make pars. I had three bogeys and 8 pars in the 11 holes.
