Mine starts this weekend 54 holes of stroke play. Sat, Sun, then Sat.
Haven't heard of any 54 hole ones yet. Good luck!
We ended up getting rained out the first Sat. So it ended up being Sun, Sat, Sun. I Shot 69, 69, 72 (par 72). Ended up winning by 10 shots.

Playing my first Club Championship with Corning Country Club in upstate New York. It is Match Play format which I have never played before for a Club Championship. My first match is tomorrow at 8:24am. Why I am still up? I haven't scored as well recently but our course is going through some heart aches with turf illness around the greens and aerification just occurred two weeks ago. Long as I can hold up for 10 holes, we'll move on to the next one!

I got murdered...he took 7 on the front. I made a 5 hole run on the back but the damage was done. He could not miss on the front, just too solid and consistent of a player for me to play on an off day. Even more impressive is he was a 5.0 handicap who gets out once a week at most!!

At least you gave it a try...a lot of golfers don't even do that!

Well played my championship match today in our club championship. Tough battle thru ten holes then went three up on 11-14, then closed it out with a birdie on hole 15 for a 4 & 3 win. I'm stoked, first year in the club and I won the first flight club championship.

Mine is next weekend, stroke play, 2 courses over 2 days, I have the second-to-last tee time on saturday, at noon.

It's my 3rd summer playing and will be my first ever tournament. No chance to win the whole thing but perhaps my flight. But mainly, I'm looking forward to see what that kind of pressure will do. I'm not really concerned with where I end up in the rankings, though I will do my best.

First round is on the tougher of the 2, for me anyway. Water on quite a few holes and favors hitting one particular side of the fairway. I'll be hitting 3W and even 5i on quite a few holes. I'll be looking to minimize penalty strokes, which is a big problem for me. 3i and 4i will be staying in the bag and I'll aim for the center of the green on every single hole. It ends with a 540-yard par 5, from the white tees, which is pretty f*****g long for a 21 handicap.

Well it is now done.

My plan to play safe was shot to hell on saturday when I found myself in 40 km/h wind with 90 km/h gusts. I had never played in that kind of wind, and it showed. I didn't have time to get nervous as I started playing bad right away, killing any chances, or so I thought (more on that later). Only the front 9 counted on saturday as the majority didn't have time to finish before the sky fell on our heads at around 5 pm. Maybe we could have had there not been slow play...I shot 54 on the front 9.

The second day was much better as the conditions were cool with a little wind, but nothing exotic like the day before. Started +3 for 2 holes but went on a stretch of +8 for the next 10 with all pars and bogeys, for a round of 93. My best hole was the 380-yard 16th, 2 handicap on the scorecard. Tight and hard dogleg right with water at 240 yards on the far side of the dogleg and large trees guarding the corner. I hit a nice draw with the 3W which caught the cart path and stopped 2 yards short of the water in the rough, leaving me with a perfect angle to the green, 150 yards to a back right pin guarded with a large bunker to the front and right and a tight green sloped towards to hole. I hit the green with a GW (with wind in the back of course) past the hole. I had a 15-foot birdie putt with 3 feet of break which I missed by a hair, but made par. 48 front, 45 back., par 72.

I lost my flight by 3 strokes, gross. Had I not 6-putted on the 9th on saturday...
