Does a course have your number?

Worthington Manor in Urbana Maryland always gets me..

Typically shoot 85-88 on simillar courses and very time I play this course i have shot 100. I am just so psyched out by this course that my hook truns inot a slice ont his course!!

Any body else have a course that just gets them??

There is not a course that really has my number but there are several holes that do and I can't figure out why!

I have a water hole on my home course that just kills me.

I get a call from my home course once in awhile if I haven't played for awhile asking if I'm ok!!!!!!! Just a bit of humor!!! There is a course that I play in a Tournament every end of the season that does me in. It has my number big times as I do not play well there!!!!!!

Any course that is filled with houses especially houses on the right. I just can't get past the mere presence of the homes for some reason

Headcases, all of you. I bet you all start thinking negatively as soon as you know you're playing those courses/holes. Keep it light and tell yourself it's just another golf hole. The shots you hit there don't mean any more than the shots you hit on your favorite holes.

Yep, I am higher handicap usually shoot in the 90's -low hundreds. But everytime I play one of the local courses that is just a little bit longer I blow it. Always shoot over 100

This hole is a Par 3 - a little scary @175 yards but I buried four balls here. Played harder courses and holes in this area without the same issues.

As BirdingGolfer said, it's mental. You probably had a bad round there and that set it off for you the rest of the time you play. I just played this course about 5 weeks ago and since the swing wasn't feeling solid, I just played to have fun and ended up shooting a nice 81 for me. Best advice is to work on your course management and try to keep those large numbers from getting on the card. For this hole, you could miss right and still be dry then hit a wedge in close and make par. Don't start thinking of hitting in the water as a last thought - you'll go in the water... :)

It's hosted the U.S. Mid-Amateur Qualifier[i] for 2012, the [/i]U.S. Open Qualifier[i] (1999, 2000, 2004, 2006, 2009 & 2011[/i]) and the U.S. Public Links Qualifier for 2010 to name a few so the course can play tough.

I've had quite a few courses that have tormented me all too often. When a course gets to you like that, the best thing you can do it plot a gameplan for each hole BEFORE you ever head to the course. If you care to, take the time to go to the range and play through the course (or at least key holes) in your mind. Doing this on a wide open range helps me not see the trees, lakes, and bunkers that grab missed shots. Instead, I simply focus on hitting the shot the correct distance.

Then it becomes a matter of translating those shots onto the course. Having a plan for a course that is built around how I hit a ball typically makes for a more enjoyable round.

Oh yeah. Here in the valley of the sun Popago and ASU Karsten kill me everytime. Usually shoot between 73-78 on any other course around (Boulders, Troon, Sunridge Canyon) If I can muster an 82 on either of those courses it was a miracle day. No idea why....Damn this mental game!
