I'm around 107 and I thought 7s was bit too much to load properly (they are very smooth shaft so it doens't feel boardy but it is stiff enough)

I would try 7s first.

I don't think swing speed has to do with choosing a 6 or a 7. I would say it has to do with your tempo. Aggressive or smooth. Smooth swinger would be better off in the 6 where an aggressive go after it type of swing would be better off in the 7 or even 8. Has to do with the weight of the shaft.

I am pretty aggressive , but only have 103 SS. The 6 x scared me.

What do you think? Want a higher launch shaft my my SLDR over my Whiteboard 73 stiff.
By the way, I do really like my WB73.

SS doesn't have to do with weight. I swing an 89 6 iron and play with 100 gram iron shafts. With 103 I would stick to a stiff.


Weight on shafts has to do with your style of swing. I'm a very smooth swinger and do not like heavier shafts. I lose so much speed doing it. Like 5-7mph.

Honestly hit it first. See if it fits your swing. If you need more then tip. I'm no professional on this subject by any means. Just know the basics. One being easier to tip after lol.

I agree with Deck. Try it first untipped. My SS is the same as yours, but because of my aggressive transition and lots of lag, the DI just doesn't fit me at all. I have tried a 6S on a couple of occasions and it feels so loose to me in the mid section, it's totally unusable for me. And I wasn't going to spend $$$ on a shaft like that to tip it 1 inch, just as an experiment, when there are shafts out there that would fit me better.

I would be trying to get an ill fitting shaft to fit me, by tipping alone, when the point of tipping a shaft is purely to 'fine tune' an already decent fitting shaft. And the DI doesn't give me that.

So Deck is right, go try it on a Demo Club to see if it fits first.

Yeah, I tried it, and quite liked it. A little like the old Fubuki Tour, with that same 'zip' at impact. It launched higher without ballooning. The only thing I personally found was that the ball speeds were a little down with it for some reason. But if I would have been prepared to give up 5-8 yards, then I would have been happy to use it, as it was consistent and accurate.

I will give my opinion on the DI 6. I hated it. I swing the 103 -105 range and even had mine tipped one inch. My flight was just too high to my eye with it.

White tie never hit it.

Sounds like the DI is a no go. I did try it years ago and found it pretty loose. I like soft feeling or smooth feeling g shafts in the butt section.
The White Tie sounds interesting. Going to so more research.

I play the 6.2 Fuji speeder. Non tipped and it's the best shaft for my swing I have tried. I'm a very smooth swinger though.

I've had a DI-7s in my driver for about a year now. I've been having problems hitting my driver the last few weeks, but when I first got it, every shot was straight and long. It is tipped to GD's recommendations, which makes a world of difference. I have no idea on my swingspeed, but it was ~100 3-4 yrs ago, so I would guess it's around 105-110 now.

Tour Spec? I used it in an R1 with great success, just wanted a bit more feel with it.

You need to tip the GD per recommendations to play true to flex in the driver. I have a smooth load swing speed of 103mph and the 6s fits me perfectly fine, tipped .5". Playing it untipped will make it feel soft.

Well, quest is over.... Just picked up a Speeder Tour Spec 6.2 that will get paired up with my SLDR 430 head.

I recently got fit for a driver, and the AD DI 7S was the shaft which produced the best results. I didn't find it too much for me, and my swing measured on trackman was between 97-101. 6s felt too loose for me, but I have a quick transition. Best advice is go and try them out. With a quick transition like mine, a 7s would be fine in my opinion, or a tipped 6s
