Research on Graphite Design Tour AD DI 6 vs 7

OspreyCI

Recommended Posts

After doing research on here I didn't really find an answer I was looking for. Maybe just missed it.

Is the GD Tour AD DI 7s more stout than the 6s? I know people say it tightens things up a bit, but does it get boardy going to the 7? I swing at 105 and just making sure the 7 is not too stout for me or take too much work to load.

I like a little heavier (high 60's or low 70's gram) shaft so I decided on the 7s. Any users can give me a heads up would be great. It is going in an RBZ Tour head.

I was in the same boat though I swing around 108 and I went with a 6x in my D3 and couldn't be happier, not a problem to load and really smooth. The 7s is a pretty stout shaft compared to the 6s, though I have no experience with it in an RBZ. I loved it so much I went with the 7s in my 3 wood and that is also a great combo. Good luck

That is what I was afraid of. So even at 105ss a 7s would be pretty stiff?

The 6 is fine for a 105 ss. The 7 is to much for that ss.

I've played a lot since I've gotten the shaft and its AMAZING. Like literally no lie, I had a axivcore blue 79x in it before and i couldn't hit my 3 wood at all. Got the ad di7s and I love it. Very penetrating ball flight and easy to shape. I want to get a ad di for my driver " currently game the attas element rk 7s " Think it's a little soft for me.. very loose, none penetrating ball flight. I might try a ad di6x. Don't know yet. Saw were the others guy say the 7 is a more stout shaft, maybe that's why it's a good match for me, I have a quick transition and my SS with driver is 105-116, I've only gotten 116 a couple times but when I go to golfsmith it's usually 107-111 on average.
How do you like the 6s?

Would love to hear people's thoughts on the 6 versus the 7 in the x-stiff too. Currently deciding between those two and the 'Ahina in a 70x to put into a RAZR Fit.

Before people say "get fit!"... as many on here know, trying out x-stiff shafts isn't the easiest thing as most clubs and retailers don't carry it. I have hit both the AD-DI 6 and the Ahina 60 in stiff; liked both but it's hard to tell what they will do in heavier weights and stiffer flexes. SS of 110-115. Quicker tempo.

Played 910D3 with 7s and lost a bit distance and height of the shots.

I swing around 107mph and somewhat aggressive swing.

I sold the combo and bought used Nike with 6s.

Bombing high and long. The best combo I ever played so far, Increased distance and improved dispersion too.

Dang it...now have to search for a pulled di 7 to go into the RBZ Tour 14.5! At 103-105 ss should I go a little weaker in the di 7 for the 3 wood?

STILL waiting for the di 6s to show up for my driver. Hate buying gear before a holiday weekend!!!

I guess I am trying to figure out a similar thing. My driver SS is around 107-108. i have a long back swing with mid tempo. I just switched to a 60x in the Fubuki and it feels nice and smooth, but I still don't know if a 70s would be a better fit. The question for me is the heavier shaft or the stiffer flex the way to go? How do you decide whether to increase the weight of the shaft vs. the stiffness of the shaft? Any experienced club fitters on here?

i play a 7s in a rapture v2 and love it. same distance as the stock blueboard in stiff and much better control. my swingspeed is right around 107ish with a relatively quick tempo. i think the 7 really helps me from getting too quick which is a problem i have.

just my experience, definitely not an expert. i've really liked the 7s

haha yeah. Your 3 wood ss is 103-105 or driver? my 3 wood ss is like 103 average and the ad di7s is working very good for me. But my driver ss is 107-110 average. If your driver ss is 103-105 I'd say the 6s
[/quote]
My driver ss is 103-105. So the 7s is a 3 wood is too much for me? The 6s is too light for a 3 wood. Hmmm?

Heavier over stiffer if your tempo is medium. Stiffer requires a faster tempo, a medium tempo is better suited to heavier and less stiff (keeps you on tempo, on plane and doesn't require a more aggressive move to load it), slower tempo for less stiff and potentially lighter still depending on how control is.

If the shaft isn't stiff enough or too stiff, you'll have consistent directional misses. If it's not heavy enough but stiff enough, there will still be directional misses but they won't be consistent.

Very sweet. Currently I have a whiteboard 73. Used a Tipped DI6S for about a year before that.

I play the 7X in my 910D2 and love it. Tried both the 6 and 7 and prefered the 7. Spin numbers and trajectory were a little better with the 7X and carry distance was was just a few yards longer. But what really got me decided was the fact that I was more consistent with it, especially the dispersion when going at it harder. My normal SS is 118 mph though, so that's most likely the reason why. It doesn't feel boardy at all for me and the bending profile seems to fit my swing very well.

I don't think 7s would be too stiff for you and I would recommend following Graphite Designs tipping instruction.
