Is this finish worth it?

Just got it back from the plating shop.

That was the darkest they could get the copper finish. I told them to put smallish dark streaks to make it "classier".

 

So far carpet putting shows feel didn't change much.

 

The harder question is which putter to do next, BB16H or Tourstage PV2 in a greyish/charcoal type color.

Details...I was buying a demo Callaway Forged + wedge on ebay. Shipping overseas was $40 for up to 2 clubs. I asked the seller what else he could sell me for $10 so my Money Order would be an even $100.

 

Austin1, slightly beat up for $10

 

Buffing + copper finish=$5

 

I'm in SE Asia so everything is cheap here.

 

Actually it was originally $4, but I had it redone darker that is why the extra $1 ;) Turnaround was 1 week though because the owner of the shop has one of his guys do it after work.

 

I've only done a durability test by hard rubbing an eraser? I'll play it for a whole month then I'll have other clubs done. Maybe even irons.

I like the finish, but would like to know wat the putter looked like before... Any previous pics for a before and after viewing? ;)

Previous pics are somewhere but I can't seem to find them.

 

The putter was in maybe 8/10 shape, looked to be a demo/floor unit.

 

It still had the tags on it but was well worn. Lots of small dings that buffing took off.

 

The original finish was a satin type finish similar to the Cleveland designed by finish, but a bit more towards chrome.

I thought that the 5 bucks was a misprint. You can't think about a good plating for under 60 here in the states unless you know someone. Looks good!!!

It looks nice, especially for $5! I'm currently in Thailand, and talked to some guys at one of the local shops about getting teflon black irons. He said I could get them refinished every 6 months for less than 10 bucks here, but no word on how much to get them done up (ie taken down to a raw finish) initially.

i got a similar one - ray cook classic II. it has a black finish - whcih needs help.

love to get it redone like yours + others that i have sitting in the closet.

 

yes - pls list the various finishes + cost if you can get the list together.

I'll ask the guy first if he is willing to take on more volume. His primary business is finishing/plating metal on furniture.

 

Hard to say what is available. He has swatches of different finishes but it has to be kept in his office, so I can't borrow that. About 20 choices in different shades of brown to copper, and black to light grey.

 

Most of his finishes cost $4-8 depending on what raw materials he needs to use.

 

I also have access to a gun factory that does a perfect gunblue for about $10. I just got my Napa back from there. I tried the durability for a year without taking care of it, then decided to have them do it again. The finish only had a few rust spots but that is maybe 30 rounds, 10 of which were in rain. Pics to follow later today.

 

Both places are like an hour and hour and a half away from me in opposite directions. So not that easy to get to

You say he has a lot of different shades? I would personally go a little darker.

They have a darker brown, but I wanted to try antique copper first.
