Restoration for SC Studio Stainless

I have a Newport 2 with two small pinhead size dings on the top and would like to get it restored. Several weeks ago I ran across a thread where someone had an SC refinished by a vendor (not SC) and it had a flat black finish with lime green paint fill. I would appreciate the contact information of that or another recommended restoration shop.

1) Can the dings be fixed?

2) Cost?

3) Lead Time?

The ding can be fixed. Can't remember the price off the top of my head, and you're looking at around 1 month normally

a refinish by scotty is around 110.00 BUT he will only refinish to origanal coat or pro platinum.

BOS Says they can do it, soI would think they could do it. They said it is just buffed to get the shiny appearance. That's why the price list has BO for Stainless and III Black For Stainless. Here's the shot of the price list for them

I don't know how well it holds up but they do, in fact, do black oxide on stainless as quoted.... check out their price guide.

I get ya but when i called them afew days ago, the rep said to have that result thats on the picture. The putter must be made of carbon steel.

 

Anyways why not black nitrate it ? Chris, any news on black nitriting studio style ??

Can't do Studio style due to the insert. The melting point of the polymer around the insert is lower than the temp needed for the nitrate. Can so Studio Stainless and Carbon Steel. Should have some back next week to show some pics. Crossing my fingers. Now I have to go watch TV. LOL

If SC restores a SS putter will it be returned with the original finish or the Pro-Platnium?

Depends, if you ask him to restore it to PP it will cost 30.00 but if you just send it in for restoration it will comeback in the origanal finish.

SC will do original as it's stainless already. Would be pointless to go PP on a SS putter. With them you get the putter restored, new shaft, new grip and new headcover.

 

 

With Kevin you would need to pull the shaft. In this case SC would be a better deal as you get everything new, unless you like your shaft grip and headcover.

 

Can you post a pic of whatyou are talking about on dings? Trying to see what all could be wrong with the putter other than the pinhead sized dings that would make it where it would need to get restored right now. I normally wait until the putter is beat pretty good till I get it restored.

i want to have my SD 3 REFINISHED...my bag was stolen out of my garage and they actually went to a golf course i believe and played with my equipment....the cameron now has several small rusting spots across the entire face and the sole has finish coming off...they must not have putted well with it....it also appears they left the cover off as it appears there are several minor dings no the top line from apparently being dropped into the bag and banging off the soles of the irons....

 

the Mizzys got a little beat up to as well as my driver....

 

 

there are special 4 letter words that can easily be used to describe this situation...anyway the cops caught them and i got the clubs back....

 

the mizzys are gone to be refinshed....the driver....well i was looking at the 905r ....and then the 907's are on the way......hmmmmmm..

 

anyway...the Scotty has to go to the doctor...just looking for some suggestions....on some good paintfill options and maybe some additions....

 

mine is the 2001 model not the 2003...any help is greatly appreciated....and if any of you know a good hitman for a reasonable price...send me a PM....thanks

I'd say go PP finish. Merlot and Black Paintfill. Custom Shop Stamp (You have to w/ the PP finish) and the Cameron Money Stamp. Paintfills are really a matter of personall preference though.

 

If it's a gamer, then I suggest the PP as you won't have to worry about rusting or any of that.

Crazy. I am trying to decide on paintfill colors and I am leanig toward the merlot red and black, or merlot red and gold. On a PP finish. (I am assuming my PP Newport 2 has a PP finish, and it is not just a catchy name?)

I just sent my SC back to them to get a new shaft put in and get it refinished. All together the final price is $90 for me. I don't know if that is because i work for golfgalaxy or not. But i did send it through them. They also told me that they couldn't go and shorter than 34.5 inches. I wanted it 34. Does anyone know why that is? What is the best way to change the colors on the Scotty Studio. I would like them to be black and blue. Some help would be great, thanks guys.

Just e-mail the studio and say that's what you want for paintfill. They include it with a restoration. Never heard of them complaining about shortening before. I have had quite a few I went from 35 to 33 on. Probably has something to do with the SW of the club. Would bring it into the C range I think. If you ask nicely tey will go to 34" it's only 1 inch off.

 

That is cheap for a refinish. LOL

If the studio says it is too late, just acetone to remove the old paintfill, then Testors paint to apply the new. Do a search and you will come up with a ton of hits. I would answer more, but it's almost 2:30 am and I'm heading to bed. LOL
