I am sure I'll be corrected if I am wrong, but the Pro Platinum finish is not paint - it is plating. I wouldn't try it yourself with paint, but that is just me. The Custom Shop are miracle workers so I am pretty sure they can fix whatever you do :drinks:

 

As for the fill I have used two different products - enamal model paint and automotive touch up paint.

Testors enamel model paint works the best for paintfill. You are correct, the PP finish is a Plating. Just send the Circa to Kevin or the CS.

Why do you need Sandpaper for he PP finish. Are you just tring to get the old finish off. If so, soak it in coke and steel wool it. Be cautioned, the raw finish rusts fast.

PP can't be Coked and steel wooled Chris :drinks:. THe best way is strip it chemically or at worst bead blast and replate.

 

PP is a nickel plating or electroless nickel plating.

 

Any refinish job need to be aware on what is the weight before and after to minimize the weight lost. Tumbler some times needed if there are to many small dings before start working w/ the finishing tools. Basically a good refinisher will always watch what they are doing in term of minimizing the weight lost and keeping the integrity of the putter as much as possible.

 

ME my self don't do refinishing that requires out side subcontractor anymore ( to much problems ), I only do in house work only. Original SS finish can be easily restore just like the way i did it like Johnny's putter. This is probably the only refinishing job i still do in house.

See, he never said he had the PP finish on there. Just that he wanted it on there. I gave him how to get the old finish off since he asked about getting one on rather than taking ne off. I always use te chemical bath from Caswell plating to remove my PP finishes . And I did say thet PP was a plating. LOL

I'm assuming by PP you mean Pro Platinum??? if so I'm not a big platinum finish fan...kind of like the black pearl finish....does the custom shop still finish putters in black pearl?

 

definitely gonna get the custom shop stamp added....and the headcover to boot, but if i get any stampings on the face it would be my Initials over the money stamp....

They won't do black pearl at all anymore. On putters that had black pearl the CS will restore using a black mist finish (someone will chime in with the corect name.) If your putter did not have a black pearl finish to start with you can only get the Charcoal Mist finish in place of the original finish or Pro Platinum.

That is exactly what they are doing. I goofed my post.

 

I also thought they wouldn't buff the finish normally.... I read that it is too hard to buff without flaws. Don't know if it is true or not, but no Black Pearl and I don't think they will normally buff the new finish.

I don't think they normally buff them either, but I've gotten a few back that were buffed. Normally the prototypes though. I think you CAN request it though, but in the end it will be up to them if they do it.

That is completely true!

 

I've tried them before, From 20 putters...only 12 come out perfect, the rest are so so.

 

But again, my meticulous eyes are just to damn picky...None of the customers really see what i saw.

 

I just hate relying on Sub contractor, especially when they can't keep their promises.

Check out http://www.scottycameron.com/customization/default.asp and put in the options you want. I think restoration is $110 to original + $30 to add PP finish.
