Cameron Select Paintfills

I'm tempted to do a little custom work to my Newport 2.6, but the paint fills (especially the red dots) have a cool semi-transparent look to them that I'm afraid I won't be able to replicate.

 

I have a kit of testor's enamel paint standing by. Has anyone had success re-creating that finish so it looks stock but in perhaps a different color? Please share your techniques.

Ebay! Tamiya clear paint is what you want, small bottles are about $5

This isn't a Select series but a California Series. I just wanted to show an example where I used transparent paint. The paint I used was Tamiya, the color was Clear Green. Don't use anything for transparents other than Tamiya.

Here was the Select I was looking for. I only used transparent paint on the weights and dots.

The reason for this is the transparent paint works far better when in contrast against the stainless steel portions of the club as opposed to the darker portions.

For instance, on a stock Select, the word "Select" is actually painted transparent red, but most people don't notice because it doesn't contrast very well.

So instead of using transparent on the lettering, I used regular paint in a color as similar to the transparent paint I used in the weights and dots.

So this is probably the best example I have that could give you an idea of what you're trying to accomplish.

You can put down a layer of silver in the black areas and then do the translucent paint. I would post a picture of mine, but I am away from it.

Did you seal your paint at all? If yes, what did you use?
