Absolutely love this very precise rangefinder however the lack of accessories for Leupold kinda sucks, since we are now experiencing the PGA Show has anybody noticed silicone skins??? Thanks...BB

BB, I know this is off topic, but why did you choose the 4i over the 3i? I have been doing homework on these vs the Bushnell Z6 and decided Leupold, just not sure between the 3 and the 4. I know the obvious answer, the 4 uses slope and the 3 doesn't, so do you find that feature accurate and do you use it often? What are your thoughts?

Yes I choose the 4i mainly because of the slope feature and yes its always in use. The technology and overall performance quality of this unit is second to none in my opinion. It does take a bit if getting use to, some of my Bushnell friends struggle with targeting as I use the smallest sight hair option. Once you get used to its technical sensitivity you fall in love, the optical quality is rediculous...BB

I have not had any issues, keep in mind if your laser doesn't hit the prism correctly it will not register with any unit, that might be the issue folks are experiencing...BB

Big Ben,

You got my attention, two new things for me this spring. I'm carrying the Leupold Range Finder in my shop, and we are adding pins with prisms. Would you mind a quick tutorial on the right and wrong way to try to hit the prism?

Got it. I was just hoping adding the prism flags would make things easier and quicker. Hopefully it doesn't have the opposite effect...

My course doesn't use prisms...so is a rangefinder the wrong device for me?

The Leupold range finders are IMHO the best on the market. Yes, the prism lock feature will only lock/beep if there are prism present, but it will still easily hit any target. The beep is just a "self assured" bonus in my opinion.

Not at all. As I understand it, the prism just makes it a little easier to hit, but I haven't tried it yet... A good range finder will hit the flag stick, no problem...

The prism question is actually an interesting one, I guess after I think about it hitting them and lock in isn't 100% assured. I recall reading about this a while back and something about angles was mentioned, hopefully somebody will chime in and offer some illumination...BB

Just got the 3xi for Christmas and played yesterday. Was a bit hungover and had some shaky hands. Was shooting pins with ease from 300+. I've yet to use it at a course with prisms. I used to be a big gps guy. Love my original upro. I've played a couple times now and am taking both units, but I'm using my gps maybe 3 times per round, and the laser on every hole. It's fantastic.

Prisms always help, and increase reliability. It is a great idea to sell rangefinders in your shop and add prisms, without the prisms the sales would be much lower. My local club has a demo rangefinder they let members take on the course once, just keep the CC as collateral
