Taylormade Rocketballz Stage 2 vs RBZ on the Launch Monitor

I am really starting not to like you. Your reviews are starting to hurt my wallet. I was just thinking there was no way my RBZ Tour could be unseated, especially after hitting the X-Hot. It was good, but it did not feel as good as the RBZ, and then your put this out. If they made something longer than the RBZ that is even easier to hit out of the fairway, than i may just have to have it. I am really interested in seeing the 15 versus 15 number as well if you could do one with a tour version that would be great. Keep up the good work.

If re-read this you'll notice the stage 2 was actually a 17* 4 wood not a 15* 3 wood that the RBZ was, meaning the stage 2 shouldnhave been a touch shorter distance wise. The point was to show how easy the stage 2 is to hit off the deck. Same weight stock shaft.

Sorry for the lack of validity, But as I said i am going to redo the test at the same loft to show how much longer the stage 2 truly is, at least I think it will be.

One could ascertain that with the .5inch longer shaft, as well as lower loft, that it would be even longer than the 4 wood. I don't think that should be that hard to infer from the results.

I didn't want to believe this since I love my RBZs so much. Plus I put in great shafts.

I think I'm just going to wait until the stage 3 comes out next year and TM throws on another 7-10 yards. Then I'll pick up a stage 2 for cheap. Damn...I love my RBZ. I can't keep up with TM and their yardage gains. I definitely saw the difference last season.

I found that last year's Tour RBZ 14.5* was longer than the Regular RBZ 15* off the deck.

It will be interesting to see the comparison between last year's RBZ Tour 14.5*, this year's Stage 2 Tour 16.5* and this year's Stage 2 Tour 14.5*.

Caesar, very good and informative report. I play the standard version of last years RBZ 3 wood at 42 inches. It's the longest 3 wood I've ever hit but like others, my struggle is off the deck. If I go to the Stage 2, which many have said, including you, that it's easier to hit off the deck, I would likely purchase a 5 wood, given the carpenter steel and maxed out COR. I also like the fact that there is adjustability with this years model.

There is a Tour 5 wood I assume, is it 18 degree?

I just came from Golf Town and the stage 2 tour 16.5 HL is dead sexy looking .. better looking than my RBZ tour 5 wood head from last year
Need to read up on what shaft will work best, wonder what a RUL 80x would be like in it ?

ill run some more tests in the next few days, but i can tell you i was averaging 230 yards off the deck with the RBZ 3 wood, i sold my tour 3 from last year but i have another on i can test, its a low bullet all day long club off the deck.

Keep them coming. I like it as well because we gravitate towards non sub human club head speed as well. Have you ever though about doing a deal like Mark Crossfield? I think it would be a hit.

if you are serious, PM me and ill take you up on it, my shaft will be different then the speeder you have in so the results wont be spot on but ill give it a whirl

Last year I had the RBZ Tour
Taylormade sent me a R1, I went through shaft after shaft before finding a great fit with the Oban Devotion and Proforce V2
But the Oban Kiyoshi White is on the way to replace that shaft.

So for now R1 with a Proforce V2 66g

We just got the Stage 2 driver in today so i'll do some tests with it again last years RBZ driver. Hybrids arent here yet, waiting for them.

absolutely, ill get a thread up whenever the weather is nice enough to hit them all, the stage 2 driver i got in is not be the tour, it is the regular...so may not have the best results. not saying its a bad driver, i just prefered the tour of last year so i assume id prefer the tour of this year. that and it will be different shafts and trust me, people dont like comparisons with different shafts haha. ill do what i can! thanks for the idea.

ill tell you this, before hitting either driver. i thought id be playing stage 2 tour driver this year if i was to upgrade. now, the stage 2 tour has some serious work to do to kick the R1 out

There was a gorilla in the fitting bay at my retailer today hitting the Stage 2 TP ($389 club I think they said) with Matrix RUL.

Dude was hitting the ball 310 fairly regularly. Clubhead speed was around 115 with a 3w.

Alright not the best of pictures but the tour is on the right. One thing that stood out is how good the standard version looks at address. It's sits square as any non tour in I've seen. The head is bigger then the tour but the tour looks like it sits better in my mind. The sole is flatter and the face has a much better look to it.

Stage 2 3hl Tour set to 16* which is 1* open. With the Rocketfuel 70g stiff shaft. You saw my thread on it right? It's a long club and very easy to hit. Very small head at address that might deter some people.

I may fiddle with some different shafts but I doubt it since this Rocketfuel shaft is actually really really good.


Is the Rocketfuel the Matrix RUL shaft?

Yes sir. From what I've seen it's as easy as my old 07 burner to hit.

Ill be honest, I really want to hit the xhot because of all the good things I hear about it. But I wouldn't be able to buy one, Callaway won't sell to me haha (thats a joke) I'd have to steel the demo from my shop. So it's the stage 2 hl for this season. The xhot would have to beat it by 10 yards and be easier to hit off the deck to knock it out. Just wanted to be honest. I always have an open mind to try other companies clubs, but ill play taylormade unless some other club is substantially better. A good example is the 913 driver. I love that driver. But it's no better then my RBZ tour or R1 so I stick with Taylormade. These days it's all about preference and what's fits. Taylormade has been working for me, while it may not work for others.
