lead taped the babies today....

Referring to miura baby blades...I was gaming them a bit longer than what I actually should use and decided to cut them back down to proper length for me. After finishing regripping them, they swingweighted way to light (8 iron was c7 for goodness sake)......had no choice but use the lead tape....and quite a bit of it. After getting them back to the swingweights I liked I have been hitting them better than ever..... Anyone else tape up their miuras? I know some guys cry foul over this but Im the type that if I own a ferrari it is going to see regular abuse and 120,000 miles before Im done with it

Let's see some pics. The overall weight of my Miuras are exactly the way I like it so no need for lead tape but I do have some on my previous driver, 910 and 54* wedge.

I'm with you -- not on the tape, but on putting the dirt to even the finest clubs. I know some guys even use iron head covers to keep their Miuras pristine, but I love the way my 301's look dirty and dinged. To me, the best looking Porsche is one covered in mud. <g>

I think there is something intimidating about a guy using blades covered in lead tape, sweet spots worn brown and bag chatter galore. I use lead tape quite regularly to dial in SW. it's the mark of a stone cold player.

Yeah, its temporary as I was running out of time when working on that club....but it was 10 sw points light! I like heavy gear and we (builder and I) moi matched my irons and wedges. That 9 iron comes in at D9

Working on corking them....but how much powder is 10 sw points... like 20 grams?? That's a lot of powder

Get the high density stuff. You don't need much of it. My driver has 10 grams down it :)

I'm curious, if you had originally had them made at standard length, or even 1/2 inch over standard, how would they have gotten the clubs to a D3 or D4 swingweight, with the same shafts and grips? I know this is a theoretical questions, but I guess I am wondering if these companies make the same heads with a few different weights, so that they can achieve a golfers desired swingweight, or is all the swing weight adjusted with grip, shaft, etc.

I get that. Do any of the JDM companies make different weighted heads for the sole purpose of achieving different golfer swing weights without tip weighting etc.? The reason I ask is that someone told me that Epon does this, but I have no way of knowing if this is true.

I don't know for sure but it wouldn't surprise me, it's something that's been done for a long time. Titleist had two different 975D heads back in the day, one weighted for a steel shaft and one weighted for graphite.

A lot of people don't like tip weights because they think it will change the CG, so offering different weighted heads would make a lot of sense.

Have you tried putting lead strips lined down the underside of the shafts? There are precut strips that are 2 grams a piece in thin rectangular pieces of about 1 1/2" long. I did them to my clubs. Can't be seen at address and just brings the SW up without putting all the weight at the head.

powder em, tip weight them...then slap a pound of lead tape on them.

10 sw points light is horrible. Would feel like a toothpick in your hand.
