Portland/Eugene/Bend

I am traveling this week for work to Bend, OR for a customer golf event at Sun River Resort (Woodlands Course). I am flying in Thursday and departing Sunday morning in time to catch the end of the US Open. I am looking for suggestions on the following.

 

Thursday, good place to get a practice round in or good range time. A restaurant recommendation would be appreciated too.

 

Saturday, a memorable golf course in on the the 3 areas mentioned.

 

I would love to make my want to Bandon but it won't be happening on this trip. Lets hope I can close the deal with the customer and I will have numerous reasons to travel back to Oregon and enjoy the area.

 

I made one trip this year to Florida and didn't solicit the advice of WRX'ers. Never doing that again. Ended up playing a very "blah" round of golf and would've rather spent my time and money elsewhere.

Brasada Ranch or Pronghorn in Bend.....in that order for a memorable round!

For Eats....I personally love Zydeco Kitchen....this is an ez recommendation for me.

If you're in Bend, I'd say pronghorn or Tetherow for a memorable round. Heard mixed reviews on Brasada.

For Thursday if you want a round or the 2nd best range I've ever been to, go to Pronghorn, a good range with a great putting green and separate fairway and green side bunker areas. Plus a mix of slightly used and new Pro V1's for range balls. That said Pronghorn is pretty spendy.

If money is an issue Juniper in Redmond is blast and about a 20 minute drive. But I'd for sure spend the money for 1 round.

I'm assuming you have not played Brasada Ranch? The course is brilliant and it is a great place in general.

Never played Brasada, just heard different reviews.

Heard it's a great course though, also heard that the conditions at Tetherow aren't as good as they were when I played

As noted above, you really can't go wrong with the Pronghorn, Brasada, or Tetherow.

I have to ask though, why don't you play Crosswater? You're working an event there, I'm sure they'd be able to sneak you out there if you asked.

I would play Tetherow if you're looking to play more than 18 at the same course though. Just a personal preference.

I highly recommend Aspen Lakes between Redmond and Sisters. Widgi Creek in out of Bend on your way to Bachelor is a great course.I really enjoy both of these courses. I haven't played Tethrow, Brasada or Pronghorn due to cost, buy Pronghorn is running some good specials this year on Golf now and locally so give them a call. Tethrow is beautiful, but very spendy in the summer after rates and caddie.

One thing about Central Oregon golf. The rates are highly variable based on season, time of day and promotions.It will usually benefit you to call the course and ask them about their rates and promotions. There are also a couple different tourism magazine in town and golf specific newspapers at the courses that will have coupons in them with good deals, especially if you have a foursome.

I love Eugene for many things, but other than Fiddler's Green, golf wouldn't be one of them. Unless you can get on to Eugene CC, or maybe Shadow Hills, best to head to Bend for golf.

But for track and field, nature, and outdoor activities, Eugene is just heaven on earth.
