if i can play them -so can you. i bought mine on a lark and when i took them out boy was i suprized. hit them great. i hadnt hit a blade in decades. no prob with these.

I actually played these for about half a season and a lot of practice sessions my first year out of college... I wanted to buy blades and those helped convince myself to pull the trigger on the TM Smoke Rac TPs, which I gamed for about 3-4 years... since moved on to J40 CBs

I have a number of hogan iron sets I am looking to restore refinish. Do you still have some of the shaft bands avail?

Are you reproducing these yourself somehow or do you just have some NOS ? I'm so mad I had a shoe box full of old wood decals, shaft bands etc and dumped them all at some point.

I just spent last month or so doing the same. Found these lefty 73s on ebay in real rough shape. Lots of tinfoil with water works wonders for pitting & rust on shafts clubface. I used a dremel as sparingly as possible but had to do fair bit of work on couple of them especially the E as they were in very poor shape. Cleaned out the stampings re-painted new lampkin grips also. I am a signmaker/graphic designer by trade so I was able to re-create the shaft bands and have a friend who owns a sign shop print them on aggressive clear vinyl. A bit muddy on the shaft but adds to the vintage I think. Have also adjusted lie length to my specs, also adjusted lofts.

Even though I am in Canada 'im lucky another friend allows me to use his simulator in evenings-just got back from a session seen this thread thought I would share. I love the feel of these irons. Also have a set of ftx as well. Wonderful feel to those too obv bit more bounce. Chipping with the Apex 73 has great feel to them.

I am currently refinishing a speed slot driver (finally found one-us leftys are in tough !) Once I get my Jones walking bag will send more pics of final dream set !

thnx for sharing your pics and wonderful job re-storing these classics. A lot of golfers seriously do not know what they are missing if they have never had the pleasure of swinging something like a set of vintage Hogans ! Im so glad I stumbled on using vintage gear...

I am embarrassed to say I took a ton of before photos when they arrived for this project only to have my "smart" phone proceed to dump a lot of old photos I neglected to download onto my laptop-darn phone didn't even give me a heads up !! This is all I have is original pic from ebay listing. Will post better photos once I get my Jones bag and finish the speed slot driver...thnx to all for likes.

I chose not to fill the gold sunburst as well.

I have just bought my self some Hogan Director irons in 2-E i think they are 1974. They sure do feel nice when hit and cut through the turf like mad
