Grande Pines Status - Orlando

I'm playing Grande Pines on 12/22 and I'm just checking in to see if any of you have played it recently. I think they applied over-seed process on 12/3 and I'm curious what kind of condition it's in or might be in come 12/22. Thanks!

I cant even find a place online for T times as the old website is out.

anybody know if they are keeping up withtnhe maintenance? I guess its only been a couple of weeks so doubtful any signs of neglect would be showing already. Im not heading down for another month though.

Did Marriott sell Grande Pines. I know they sold Metrowest to Celebration golf management, but havent heard anything about Grande Pines or the other Marriott courses being sold.

I doubt they would sell grand pines. That's pretty tied In with ther property there.

What's most disturbing is the article mentions turning it into residential and commercial space. I've always maintained that Grande Pines was the best out of Marriott's stable in Orlando. Very sad to hear it will be paved over.

The last thing that area needs is more residential and commercial space. It's a zoo already down there. But, they probably will just barrel thru and do it anyway and then wonder in 5 years why they can't get anybody to buy or lease there.

I liked Grande Pines quite a bit. When I played there I was expecting your typical resort style layout, but it was anything but that.

Marriott is still running the course (and Im guessing will run it until construction begins on whatever is going to replace it).
the website is back up and seems to only have been down when I first posted asking about the status of the course.

Unfortunately their are too many golf courses, and we will lose some good ones as the industry continues to "right size".

I talked to a friend who owns a business right near Grande Pines and he was telling me they had a town hall type meeting with the local business and it was discussed there by Marriott and the company buying it that the plan is to definitely bulldoze the course for commercial and real estate. From what my friend said ground will not be broken for at least 2-3 years. Very sad to hear since I love Grande Pines and in my opinion its one of the best resort courses in town.

Marriott also sold off Metrowest. Falcons Fire has to be next. Only course I can see them holding onto now is Hawks Landing, since its difrectly connected to the Marriott World Center. These golf courses just dont seem to be moneymakers or worth it to these huge corporations. Disney is getting out of golf with selling managing rights to their courses to Palmer golf and selling Osprey to the Four Seasons.

I know Orlando has a lot of golf courses and maybe the industry needs to downsize a little, but I definitely dont think we need more apartment complexes and empty strip malls. Theres one that completely empty right across the street. And everywhere you look theres another cookie cutter cheap apartment complex going up.

I always enjoyed playing Grande Pines. Course was very challenging and I was even disappointed when they took away some of the fairway bunkers on a lot of holes. Sad to hear about this, I'll have to play it a couple more times before its gone for good.

I'm really kicking myself in the a$$ for not playing this when I was in Orlando in January, it's right across the street where we own and it looked like a great course.

Grande Pines was in amazing shape today (6/20/14). Greens are phenomenal!!! Tee'd off around 8:30 and finished just before 1:00. Happy with the pace of play, with the exception of the group ahead of us - but can't complain too much (they were all over the place).

Booked the tee time through TeeOff.com, ended up paying $24 after a discount code. Can't beat that deal for that course. Fun day.

Any update on this gem of a course? Can't seem to find their website anymore, probably not a good sign.

It's closed. I drove by it last week. Grass is growing in. It's a shame.
