Anyone play the Lake Powell NAtional Course in PAge,AZ?

I am taking a trip to Lake Powell and the Lake Powell National Course is 0.1 miles from my hotel.

Since we are traveling light I figure my wife won't mind if I take the clubs.

What i see on line tells me it is a gorgeous course with a good rate for seniors 60 and above.

I just wondered if anyone has any personal insights on the course.

Beautiful setting, conditioning is so-so depending on the time of the year, fun course, not overly challenging, and reasonable rates, plus it's the only golf course for 75 miles to Kanab!

From what I see on-line of the layout it look like great views. I figure it is a crapshoot this time of year but my clubs fit in the trunk so I'll have the option once I get there.
Any opportunity to play a different course should not be passed up I figure.

Had great week of smallmouth fishing on Lake Powell a few years ago... drove by the course each day, but did not play it. It looked like a fun layout... carved into hillsides... almost terraced.

One thing is for sure... no worries about irrigation supply!

[attachment=2026789:LakePowellGolf-4.JPG]I played it and enjoyed it immensely. The weather was great with sunshine all week and highs of 50-55. The course was in very nice shape and the senior winter rate of $19 with a cart was unreal.

The views are terrific and the course if tight in spots with fairly small greens for the most part. Since I had the course to myself ( saw only two others on it ) I could take my time and try to place shots.

I spoke with the groundskeeper and he told me it gets very limited play even during the peak tourist season of about 40 a day. I guess most are out on the lake or sight seeing.

The sand in the traps was a very fine like flour and much different than what i am used to. Made for playing a real sand shot.

Overall, a great experience.

I'll echo want everyone else had said. The layout is pretty good, but it's kind of a crap shoot on what the conditions will be. I think it is the 14th hole is a par 3 that drops 150 yards or so. Nice views of the lake. On side note. Lake Powell is one of the best places on earth. My family and I spend add much time as we can there in the summers.

Was just in Lake Powell for a few days and each day played 36 holes there. I've not enjoyed a golf course like I did that one in a really long time. The views are awesome, a lot of strategy required for a few holes, some scary landing areas, etc. Very cool! Condition was about as good as it gets for the desert in the middle of August. A must play in my book!
