Looking for group/league to join in the OC area

I want to join a league near me, whether it's competitive or casual. I live in OC and play mostly on the weekends. Looking for any wrx'ers that are in a league/group and have an opening. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks everyone!

Did you ever find a league to play in?

My fault for not checking back on this post.

Thanks for everyone's reply. No I have not found any groups or leagues to join. Would be great to start one up but not sure how to begin...

Mostly play my rounds on Saturdays, if anyone's interested...

I'm thinking about posting up a get together. Got a tourney to get through this weekend, then I'll get on it.

Just get together and play or wagers as well?

Either or as long as it is reasonable.

Say a penny on the first hole and double it every hole thereafter?

AM times are best for me... As long as the green fees are reasonable, I'm game...

If I do the math in my head that is a large sum of money.

I live in Westminster.

I typically play Navy Destroyer..

there is always a decent deal on golfnow for 30 or 35 dollars.

They also have good 18 hole deals for their executive course... which is a 9 hole course but you just play it twice ongolf now. Saw it for 13 dollars.

I also believe they have a mens club...

If I am not playing Navy, I typically just look for a good deal in the Inland Empire.

Typically, I end up playing golfnow deals, course website deals, and some weekday rack rates when there is nothing left.

Courses played recently: Skylines (hadn't played since changes... not bad but overpriced), Shorecliffs (close to me, but frustrating), San Juan Hills (close, but SOOO SLOW due to what seems to be all senior players), Champions Club at the Retreat (to punish myself), Links at Summerly (love it... hope the storm helps the grass growing), Redhawk (who could hate it?), CrossCreek (amazing greens).

Want to play someday: Goose Creek, Dos Lagos, Eagle Glen, Costa Mesa courses (lived right next to them, never played them), Oak Creek (win the lottery first), and Oak Quarry (see Oak Creek).

Let me know if anyone is free and let me know if anyone has updates on the conditions of the courses above. If I get another $14 deal for Summerly, I will be there and let people know what is going on. Last time I was there the greens were great and the fairways were ... ummm ... they were starting to get a little green to them. :)

played pala mesa recently and that was interesting. Fun greens but not the course to go to if you are slapping it around.

Shandin hills is a fun golf course, moderate length, decent greens. Some fun layed out holes.

Starting to really like Los Serranos South. Played the North and it just isn't the same for me. Greens and pace of play were slower than the South, and 5 hours in the sun just isn't my thing. I'll probably give it another shot in the future, but wait for the greens to pick up the speed a bit and for the bunker repair work to be completed.

Generally speaking, until I get some work in the door I am free to play pretty much every day of the week. Unemployment can do that for you... just need to check the phone once in a while to make sure I didn't miss an urgent request to book a flight somewhere in the world. Just keep it cheap. :)

I play in a small net league that gathers on the first Saturday (typically) of each month, modified shotgun start at 8am. About 30 or so at each outing, handful of single digit cappers, and most are in the 10-20 range. Good group of guys and membership dues and entry fees get donated to the City of Hope for cancer research. We play generally in the Inland Empire, but I make the trek out for the cause. Closest to the Pin gets cash, winners (low net) will typically have their entry fee waived for the next outing. Points are awarded monthly and a season champ is crowned at the end of the year and gets a trophy.

If anyone is interested, PM me. I can shoot you details on the next outing in January and you can play with me as a guest.
