Project X 7C3 - still any good?

Even though it's been a few years since PX Tour Issue were the hot shaft, it so happens that I'm looking at a PX 7C3 in my driver. I want to know from you guys how this shaft feels and performs (launch and spin) for those who have hit it. Is it still any good compared with today's latest offerings? What other shafts are comparable to this?

I also heard this shaft is quite anti-left (along with other PX Tour Issue shafts), as someone who likes to draw the ball, can anyone back that up or is it not that hard to turn the ball over (with a 7C3 in a driver)?

No experience with the 7c3 but I'm tempted to find one to try in my driver.

I have an 8c4 in my 915Fd 3 wood and love it. Feels smooth and straight as can be.

Great shafts never go bad till they break! I played mine for years, have a spare 8c4 also lol

I've played the 6C12, 7C3, and 8C4. The 6C12 is one of my favorite shafts.


I think they stack up well against today's offerings, as long as the profile fits you. They aren't necessarily the smoothest feeling shafts but they aren't harsh. They are tip stiff so they are on the lower launch/lower spin end (at least for me). Just a very stable feeling shaft. I've always grouped the PX TI shafts in the same group with the D+/ahina/Whiteboard and the Black Ties - tip stiff and very stable feeling shafts.


As for being anti-left, I don't know. I've hit some nasty snap hooks with them (but I've hit nasty snap hooks with virtually every club, so that isn't a knock on the shaft). I don't try to move the ball - I want to hit it straight. As long as my swing was decent, it did what I wanted it to do.


While definitely not as budget friendly, the new LZ performs very similar to the older TI shafts but the LZ has a smoother feel and a more noticeable kick. It may be an option if you don't mind spending the money and you want something with a smoother feel.

I have a Fubuki K in my driver and really like the feel and performance it gives me. I'm just wondering if the 7C3 would be a good transition to something heavier and little lower launching in the driver. I have an 8C4 in my 3 wood and 5 wood, while they're not the smoothest feeling shafts, but not RIP Alpha harsh, they do a very good job of keeping spin off, as well documented by other WRX'ers.

My guess is if I'm going to make it work in a driver, I will either a) need a faster swing speed or b) load the shaft more aggressively. For me to get a Fubuki K to perform perfectly means my transition is quite smooth, if I'm not mistaken.

The TI PX shafts are still fantastic IMO. Johnny T nailed it with his post. Figure out the weight and stiffness you want and pick whichever one fits those requirements. I still have a couple 7C3s in storage as that shaft works really well for me (just not quite as well as the D+).

I have PX7C3 it in an old 3wd and an old Ping driver. Its a great shaft. Reason I still use 6C12 tipped 1.5" at 44.5" in my current driver. There's something about PX shafts... Another solid and similar shaft is DBlueboard 73. I have the DBB 83 in my 3wd.

Ok, bit of an update. Been quite a few years since I last commented on the Project X shaft, but I've now got the 7C3 in my driver and the 8C4 shaft in my 3 or 4 wood. In the last year or so, I've probably outgrown the Fubuki K shaft, and what felt as too stiff before in the Project X shaft, now feels perfect. I've come to love this shaft by now. Firm yet relatively smooth, and definitely can handle the heat when I give it a lash.

Wonder what you guys think? I know it's an old shaft, but it really is a good shaft. How does this compare to the newer generation EvenFlow, such as the Blue, in your opinion?

all those blue PX tour issue shafts are awesome, I love the TI hybrids as well

Anyone have any idea where I can find 6c12 for my Titleist TS3 Driver?
