I use a herf-a-dor for mine. It's a bit bulky but its water proof and crush proof plus the cigars last for a while in them. Cigars international usually has some sweet deals for them and they toss in 10 cigars and a cutter.

Those cigar caddies, just be careful with humidification devices. I would use a small Boveda pack since it is somewhat self regulating. These devices are air tight so if you use any non regulating humidification device, it will get your cigars too humid.

Ziplock bags work well too with a Boveda but do not protect them in your bag. As for drying out after a round, cigars are more resilient than people think.

Thanks for the advise...could you recommend something to protect the cigars in conjunction with the Boveda pack?

No need for a humidor in the golf bag... Dollars to donuts, its forgotten and drys out for lack of solution, ruining the cigars.

I have been using a simple 3-cigar leather case on the golf course, for years, and do not leave cigars in it for more than a night. Only when traveling, do I take a travel humidor. Size depends on length of trip.

Boveda packs will work in just about anything. I use them in all my travel dors.

Like Pepperturbo, I use a cigar case like the ones that can be found in this link. I remember to take it out of my bag when I come home, but for those times I go away for a week, I put the cigars in a ziplock with a small Boveda and then put it into the case. Not because the case can't hold the humidity but because I don't want the Boveda drying out prematurely as I reuse them all of the time and hate buying new ones to replace them.

Take a gander here. If your purchase adds up to greater than $50, use BOTLORG and you get 15% off. I have a Xikar one and a Craftman's Bench. As long as they're cedar lined on the interior, pick one that fits your eye and budget.

Pepperturbo,

I've just started with cigars, I'm really enjoying learning all the ins and outs!

Does that mean you don't use the Boveda Bags in your regular humidor? I'm thinking about buying my first wood humidor, and that's the way I was going to go. I'm just looking at 25 - 50 size humidor. What do you prefer for a humidification device?

Nice discussion ?

A portable is great.

But I put my cigars first into a leather cigar holder, then into double ziplock bags (one inside the other). The first I put a paper towel that has been lightly soaked w Distilled water. This bag is then perforated to allow the moisture out of it. The cigars sit in the outer bag. This system works great! I'd say cigars stay in top form for at least a week. I've traveled with it as well.

Been using this OtterBox 3000 Series Drybox for several years.
It is airtight and large enough to hold cigars, Boveda, cutter, and lighter.

Thanks Kev!
My cigar journey started 5 yrs ago...its a slippery slope.
Started out with a desk humidor, then moved up to a converted small wine cooler, and recently converted to a tall cabinet humidor.

I'd recommend a better brand than the Cigar Caddy. It's what I have now, and it doesn't seal well, so don't leave anything in there for long.

The Xikar ones seem to be a bit better built. I actually use the larger travel humidors for my regular humidor. Regulates humidity so much better than wood and is way easier to maintain. One Boveda pack will last a few months, easy.

Honestly, though, I just use mine to get cigars to and from the course. I also store my buddy's cigars (he can't really control temperature well at his place in the summer), so I bring him a few sticks when we golf.

It's more of a protection thing, but I take whatever I don't smoke back in the house after the round.

I sometimes use a small boveda 69% pack if I'm going to be out all day, but a cigar will be fine for awhile without a humidity pack.

Now and again I use Boveda in my travel cigar brief cases, but not in home humidors. I do use their calibration paks when needed. What you use is a choice. Just make sure what ever size dor you purchase, it seals tight, lined in spanish cedar and it must be conditioned before use.

I use http://bit.ly/1IluIMR with 70% beads, but they are large 170+ humidors. What % beads may be different due to your location and home. Tubes from the company work well in smaller dors.

Enjoy.

You have a great setup!

I'm still pretty much a rookie, but having fun. I picked up an inexpensive wood humidor, along with my Xikar traveling humidors. I got it seasoned, and have been able to keep it right around 70 so far with Boveda bags. Really enjoying the experience. I've gone from collecting head covers to collecting cigars and accessories!

Thank you for the reply PT!
