Nike Vapor Pro Blades Late-2016 Update

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any info about an update to the Vapor Pro irons that came out in late 2014. I like the irons, but I really hate the way they look and considering Rory and Tiger didn't put them in the bag I'd assume they'd want to release some new blades that they'd actually use and will market.

Seems like they're on schedule to be updated later this year, but I can't find any information on them. Anyone know anything?

Would be sweet to see them go back to the look of their old blades, forged metal and minimal stamping. I could see a "Vapor Fly Blade" going over very well, all chrome/satin with a little bit of black and photo blue. Sign me up

I think if they stuck with the weighting they will hide more. They are going the PING route when it comes to clubs now, function over fashion

I havent even played a round in 2016 but cannot help myself to particpate aka speculate on a 2017 Nike thread:) I could definitely see Rory switching to something later this year to build up the hype. He has changed everything else except irons so 2017 HAS to be the year..right? Maybe not but I would love to see a blade and a new VPC in the smoked nickel that is on the current fly irons, not the black Fly pro irons. I could also see them ditching the pro combo since essentially, the vapor fly and the vapor fly pro are progressive combo sets that was once only specific to the OG pro combo.

elite blades, pro forged, pro, and Fly. Make it happen Nike:)

The blades are made from 1025 forged carbon steel....

Basically what im saying is bring back the old blades with new, blue stamping. Maybe some modern tech if applicable.

The player irons usually come out in late November on a two year cycle. I know when we went to the oven we got ours a month or two before the release.

Like mentioned earlier by others I haven't even played a round this year either. But I'm excited for 2017.

if i was you id wait till the next gen comes out. rors played them in a tournament and he said he liked them when he was working with em but when it came to play them he didn't do good at all wit him and went back too the vr pro. rors plays the vr pro cause those are the ones he first picked up since he switched. he jus hasn't put the effort to really get used to em for what he likes. tiger uses the vapor pros, i jus don't see why too change something that is working best for you already. it's like taking a step back of relearning the clubs and at the time rors was on point and gave it a try and didn't work. be nice if nike would come out with a new blade thats mainly built jus with rors likings. even jordan try the new 716 ap2 and played like s*** with them and didn't even make a cut so he went back too the 712 ap2. but the vapor pro and pro combos are nice clubs but i still like my vr pro the best. rors switched too the origin putter also and coming off the 006 proto which is a very sweet feeling roll putter, the origin must be the hottest item i think when it releases. i was going to go for the fly pro irons but switching back to a cast iron and a black finish i think i'll wait. they look good but i know the bottoms of the fly pro irons will look like s*** half thru the season and the face also. thats why i'm waiting for the next gen in clubs. even the fly pro driver didn't surprise me as much as the vapor pro did for me.

They better improve on the feel! The Vr's felt 100x's better then the vapors.

In for an Oven Trip!

***saddened by the fact us mere mortals can only dream of such glory

I've been waiting for a cheap set of Vapor Pro heads to pull the trigger, but will likely wait for the next rotation. My XTD Forged have been fantastic, so no hurry!

I might be on my own on this one, but I personally think the Vapor Pros feel really good! They're super soft and have a nice solid feel at impact. It doesnt feel as solid as impact is the MP4 but I'm willing to give a little up for a tiny bit more forgiveness.

I am with you. I actually prefer a little bit more solid of a field. I mean yes that soft superb feel of a flushed forged iron is great, but I do like a little bit of a more solid almost click

I hear that they will stop making blades and only sell left handed clubs but with right handed grips. Seems risky but will pay off down the road im pretty sure.

You're not alone. It just here on WRX if a couple people don't like them then it spreads to 30 other people (or more) who think it must be true. They feel good. Not far off from vr pros at all.

Just please don't make them black...... Satin please

I got the VPC Dec 2014. Great irons. Look, feel, perform outstanding. Then I saw the Cobra King set. Sold! So sweet. Of course the Kings are black (with satin to come in the spring). The new Nikes, black and blue, look hideous IMO. Satin, however, might be fine.

Gun metal or "photo" blue blades with a volt swoosh and satin grooves so they don't ware easily would be amazing

I didn't know how bad I wanted this until now. Yes please.
